  • Patent number: 7255584
Abstract: The latching metallic piece (12) has a lever-like arm (20) that extends in the direction of receiving the flat-type cable C. The lever-like arm (20) has a latching claw (20A) at one end, a fulcrum section (22) at the middle point, and an extending section at the other end. A pressuring member (14) has a restricting section that does not contact with the extending section (20B) of the latching metallic piece (12) at the open position, and that prevents the displacement of the extending section at the closed position. When the pressuring member is at the open position, the lever-like arm (20) is in the state that it can be freely displaced so as to allow insertion/removal of the flat-type cable. When the pressuring member is at the closed position, the displacement of the lever-like arm relative to the latching section in the direction that increases the latching of the latching claw (20A) is prevented, and the displacement of the lever-like arm in the direction that reduces the latching is prevented.

Abstract: A connector for FPC board includes an insulating housing and a cover plate. The insulating housing has a receiving space for receiving an FPC board, a plurality of passageways, and two guiding channels. A plurality of terminals is received in the corresponding passageways. Each terminal has a contact portion and a pressing portion. The cover plate has two rotational shafts put into the corresponding guiding channels, whereby the two rotational shafts are rotatable in and slidable along the guiding channels. When the cover plate is rotated to a horizontal position, the rear end of the cover plate lies to the front of the pressing portions of the terminals. Then, when the rotational shafts together with the cover plate are horizontally slid from front to rear, the cover plate is inserted between the pressing portions and the FPC board, and the pressing portions press the cover plate against the FPC board, and the cover plate presses the FPC board against the contact portions of the terminals.

Abstract: A high density flexible wiring connection device comprises a flexible flat cable (FFC) having narrow-pitch conductors and a flat cable connector (FC connector) having a double-sided contact designed for narrow-pitch wiring and having upper and lower contact terminals. A supplementary wiring board having upper and lower wiring terminals is introduced to connect alternate ones and the other alternate ones of the narrow-pitch conductors of the FFC to alternate ones of the upper contact terminals and alternate ones of the lower contact terminals of the FC connector, respectively, thereby making the pitch of each of the upper and lower wiring terminals twice the narrow pitch of the FFC and the FC connector. The use of the supplementary wiring board to thus convert the wiring pitch makes it possible to prevent whiskers, even if formed on the contact terminals, from causing short-circuits between adjacent contact terminals and between adjacent wiring terminals.

  • Patent number: 7121874
Abstract: A flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector is surface mountable on a printed circuit board (PCB). An edge of an FPC is insertable into a slot in the connector so that contact beams in the connector press on corresponding conductors in the FPC, thereby making electrical contact with the FPC conductors. Each contact beam is mounted on and is coupled to a conductor of a substrate member within the connector. The substrate member has a microstrip design so that the characteristic impedance of a signal path from an FPC conductor, through a contact beam, through a surface mount attachment structure of the connector, and to a conductor in the PCB has only a small variation. The contact beam is not part of a fork-shaped metal clamp that has a spring portion and a radiating stiffening portion, but rather is a beam that presses on the FPC from one side only.
