Publication number: 20130059465Abstract: A horizontally mounted connector deckplate for swimming pools to connect swim timing devices and other devices with electrical contacts with potential difference mounted on slopes integrated into the body of the deckplate. These integrated slopes cause corrosive pool water that is splashed on the deckplate, which creates water bridges between electrical contacts, to flow off through gravity, overcoming the water surface tension. Therefore electrolytic currents through the water bridges are greatly reduced, reducing corrosion of the electrical contacts of the deckplate. In addition corrosion resistant materials such as titanium are used for the electrical contacts.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2011Publication date: March 7, 2013Applicant: COLORADO TIME SYSTEMSInventors: Christian Stockinger, Carey Ryerson, Brett Anderson

Corrosive components in fuels attack the connecting points of the connector to the electrical components, so that this can lead to failure of the fuel pump. The new connector is intended to have connecting points which are no longer attacked by the fuel. By extrusion coating parts of the connector with plastic, the connecting points are effectively protected against attack by fuel. Recesses in the plastic extrusion coating allow fuel to still flow around parts of the connector for cooling, while the regions of the connector which are at risk are separated from the fuel.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2001Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann Vdo A.G.Inventors: Jürgen Zoell, Ralf Muehlhausen

Patent number: 6443759Abstract: A terminal connector includes a knob at its outer end. A knob cover snaps into the knob to enable rotation of the knob. The knob cover has resiliently urged lock tabs which snap over lock steps on the knob and into grooves beyond the lock steps. The sides of the lock tabs engage sides of the grooves to transmit torque to the knob. The knob covers are color coded so that a selected color can be installed on a selected knob to indicate its function. An insertion prevention lid is integrally molded over a plug insertion opening of the knob cover to prevent insertion of a connector plug therein. A frangible perimeter of the insertion prevention lid permits its removal to enable insertion of a connector plug.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: SMK CorporationInventors: Takeshi Matsuda, Nobuyuki Mano

Publication number: 20020119697Abstract: This invention is a mobile phone connector, a connector with anti-dust and water-resistant functions. The connector comprises: a connector main unit having a welded side and a matching side, and an insulating casing on the outside of the connector main unit, having correspondingly a welded side and a matching side, characterized in that: on the matching side of the insulating casing is a cover unit that is fixed by a shaft. Between the cover unit and the matching side of the insulating casing are an anti-leak washer and a fastening device, so designed that when the cover unit is fixed by the shaft to the insulating casing, the anti-leak washer is pressed tight against the matching side of the insulating casing, so that side is sealed, and meanwhile, the obstruction of the cover unit provides anti-dust and water-resistant effects to the matching side of the insulating casing.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2000Publication date: August 29, 2002Inventor: Wen-Yao Chan

Patent number: 6368149Abstract: A ballast assembly facilitates alternative wiring configurations via the use of one or more dual-port connectors with corresponding insulating covers. The dual-port connectors provide a choice of wiring options, and the insulating cover provides the protection of the connector from the ingress of materials during the manufacturing process. In a preferred embodiment, the insulating cover is configured to reduce the potential of damage, to people or equipment, during the assembly of a lighting fixture containing this ballast assembly, and is also configured to provide the electrical isolation and protection required or desired for safety concerns. In a preferred embodiment, the insulating connector forms access regions about each port of the dual connector that are physically and electrically isolated from one another, and physically and electrically isolated from the access holes in the enclosure material, which is typically sheet metal.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2000Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: Philips Electronics North America CorporationInventors: Robert L. Patent number: 6341983Abstract: A high density seal connector for use in an automotive vehicle. The connector includes a strain relief member when the strain relief member has an outer frame which in part defines the connector. The strain relief member further includes a protective inner cover which is attached to an inside surface of the frame. The inner cover also includes an inside surface and an outside surface which has a plurality of orifices therethrough. The connector also includes a resilient seal member which is molded directly to the inside surface of the inner cover. The seal member includes a plurality of seal plugs which fill a predetermined number of the orifices of the inner cover.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2000Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Richard J Crawford, Randy L. Patent number: 6338644Abstract: An environmentally protected, substantially sealed connector for attachment to a cable having a plurality of electrical conductors which are terminated at an end thereof with a contact, including a housing having a floor with a plurality of apertures therethrough arranged in a predetermined pattern and a backshell extending from the floor of the housing and encompassing the extended axes of the apertures, the backshell having at least one bead portion protruding from an outer surface of the outer backshell and extending at least partially around the backshell. A plurality of electrical contacts are disposed within the housing, each of the electrical contacts having a portion extending through one of the apertures and adapted to mate with one of the contact-terminated electrical conductors. Each of the electrical contacts has a locking member for retaining the associated contact in a fixed relationship to the floor.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Inventors: Daniel D. Patent number: 6319057Abstract: An electrical connector housing includes a lower shell, a connector block and an upper shell. An upper panel of the lower shell includes a first fixing mount and a draw hole, and the upper shell includes an outer side face having a second fixing mount. The upper panel of the lower shell has an inner face including a rib which is placed near the draw hole and extends towards the side panel of the lower shell while surrounding the draw hole. Likewise, the upper face of the connector block includes a pair of partition walls at a position corresponding to that of the rib, so that, when the connector block is inserted into the lower shell, the partition walls are closely superposed on the rib, and a draining space is formed away from a space for fixture ports for electrical parts, and leads to the drain hole. Such a configuration prevents the electrical connector housing from becoming too large and too costly. Such a housing structure also provides a better waterproofing quality.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2000Date of Patent: November 20, 2001Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventors: Toshihisa Sekido, Takahiro Asao
