With Sealing To Panel Patents (Class 439/559)
  • Patent number: 5112241
Abstract: A connector seal arrangement having particular adaptability for use within the insulation space between the inner wall and the cabinet wall of a household refrigerator and having a portion extending into the refrigerated space. The rear seal snaps into a watertight relationship with a recess defined at the end of the connector, whereas the front seal is disposed on an upstanding plate or flange extending from the mid-region of the connector. The inner seal is, typically, overmolded on the aforesaid plate and includes a skirt or boot in engagement with the inner surface of the inner wall of the refrigerator. Introduction of insulation presents a sealing relationship between the skirt or boot and the aforesaid inside wall surface. In order to achieve more versatility, the rear seal may include an opening presenting a fracturable membrane for the selective introduction of an electrical connector(s) depending upon total needs.

  • Patent number: 5104333
Abstract: A connector apparatus which assures sufficient fitting of a pair of connectors with each other. The connector apparatus comprises a pair of connectors and a fixing frame having a through-hole defined by a pair of side walls thereof along which the connectors are movable in a fitting direction and then in a slantwise or inclined direction. A guide mechanism is provided which guides the connectors as they are moved to a predetermined position in the inclined direction after the connectors are inserted into the through-hole of the fixing frame from the opposite ends toward each other until they are partially fitted with each other. The guide mechanism causes one of the connectors to gradually approach and fit with the other connector until a throughly fitted condition is reached. Only when the connectors are at the predetermined position, a flexible grommet for the one connector can be fixed by way of a fixing element to a panel or the like to which the fixing frame is secured.

  • Patent number: 5037326
Abstract: A lamp socket includes a housing in the form of an elastomeric grommet that passes through a round hole of a panel to mount the lamp socket to the panel. The grommet has a head at one end that has an outer diameter that exceeds the diameter of the hole and engages the back side of the panel when the head is inserted through the hole. The outer portion of the head consists of a plurality of thick oblique ribs that fold inwardly to reduce the outer diameter of the head responsive to twisting movement of the head in the hole so that a relatively low engage force passes the head through the hole. The grommet further includes a conical shoulder which sealingly engages the front side of the panel and clamps the lamp socket in place.

  • Patent number: 4960391
Abstract: A housing for a hermetically sealed bulkhead connector is machined of an integral metal member to have a precisely planar bulkhead-engaging surface of a mounting section extending peripherally around a contact support section disposed within a hood section extending through a cutout of the bulkhead. The housing also is machined to have precisely planar surfaces of a contact support section to facilitate assembly of contacts precisely concentrically disposed in passageways through the support section and securing therein by glass seals to comprise a parallel contact array. The housing is free of joints between the several sections which could provide sites for breaching the hermetic nature of the housing. No steps are performed which involve impacting or striking the housing which could disturb the precise planarity of the several precisely machined surfaces. The contact positions may be identified by laser etched indicia.
