Abstract: A shunting mechanism is provided within a socket of a light string system having a resistive element that substantially mirrors the resistive characteristic of the bulb inserted in the socket. The shunting mechanism is disabled when the bulb is inserted into the light string socket. When the bulb is removed from the light string socket, the shunting mechanism bridges the internal socket leads so as to maintain current flow and power delivery at levels similar to those provided when the bulb is present. In one embodiment, the resistive element is a resistive coating on the shunting mechanism or a resistive node on the shunting mechanism. In other embodiments, the resistive element is applied to the socket's internal leads. In yet other embodiments, the resistive element consists of sophisticated electronic circuitry specifically designed to mirror the resistive characteristics of the bulb assembly.

In the lamp socket, an opening portion is provided in a barrier that separates the transformer receiving section and the circuit board receiving section, so that the primary member extends from the transformer receiving section to the circuit board receiving section. The opening portion is closed with a part that holds the primary member.

Abstract: A device for holding a compact fluorescent lamp in a light fixture with a socket 10 and a lamp base is shown and described. The bayonet-type fixing of the lamp base in a socket 10 is effected by means of a plug-and-rotate motion. In order to give manufacturers of light fixtures the possibility of manufacturing light fixtures for lamps with a predetermined or maximally admissible lamp wattage, the invention proposes a key system with seven key pairs. Each key pair comprises a lamp key and a socket key and characterizes a predetermined lamp wattage. Concretely speaking, the socket key is a lug arranged in a hole and the lamp key is a plug corresponding to the socket hole with a outwardly open cutout. In addition, a key system for making predetermined lamp types recognizable is described.

Abstract: An LED electrical connector is attachable to a display panel or surface. The LED connector includes a housing having a base, a backplate, and a contact arrangement. The base and backplate form a housing for the contact arrangement and a channel for a cable. The base has a collar to receive an LED, with apertures for the LED contact legs. The contact arrangement includes a first contact having points, and a first terminal in common with the points. The first terminal engages the anode or cathode leg of the LED. A second contact has points and a second terminal interconnected to the points by a resistor. The second terminal configured to frictionally engage an anode or cathode leg. The first and the second contact points pierce insulation on the electrical cord to electrically engage the respective conductors of the cable, to energize the LED.

Abstract: A connector for mounting an LED to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a hollow cylindrical body portion with an interior sidewall that defines a hollow cavity at one end to receive the LED threaded base section. The second end has a plurality of conductive contact elements with which to electrically contact the LED. A first electrical contact element includes at least one prong extending partially into the cavity. The prong is flexible for the threaded portion to pass the prong for insertion, and partially return to electrically engage the threaded portion to maintain the threaded portion inside the cavity. The prong also permits removal of the LED rotationally with respect to the cavity. The contact elements are in electrical communication with the LED and the threaded base section when the threaded base section is inserted within the body portion.
