Abstract: A power adapter plug arm manufactured from a single piece of material is provided. The plug arm can include a plug operative to extend into a wall socket, an elongated plate coupled to an end of the plug such that the plug extends from a first surface of one end of the plate, and a pin coupled to the opposite end of the plate and extending from the opposite surface of the plate. The pin can be operative to engage a circuit board of the power adapter to provide power received from the wall socket to an electronic device coupled to the power adapter. To enhance the strength of the plug arm, the plate can be manufactured by creating a co-axial plug and a stem from a single piece of material, bending the stem, and cold heading the bent portion of the stem to form a plate.

Abstract: An interconnection system with capacitors integrated into a printed circuit board footprint of an electrical connector. One end of each capacitor shares a pad on the printed circuit board with a contact tail of a conductive element in a connector. The shared pads are not connected through vias to internal circuit structures. Rather, a via, such as which would conventionally be formed as part of the connector mounting pad, is formed as part of a separate, adjacent pad. A second end of the capacitor is attached to the adjacent pad, forming an electrical connection between the conductive element and the via through the capacitor. Incorporating capacitors into the footprint reduces the number of vias required, which improves signal integrity. The capacitors may be placed on the printed circuit board separately from the connector or may be incorporated into the connector, allowing the connector and capacitors to be placed in one operation.

Abstract: When a hobby enthusiast has recharged the battery for a remote controlled vehicle, such as a scale facsimile automobile, boat, helicopter or airplane, the battery must be connected again to the vehicle drive system, to provide power. This operation is typically performed by connecting each lead of an electronic speed controller to each corresponding lead of the battery, through a removable barrel receptacle lead and a mating barrel plug lead respectively, attached to each corresponding lead. An improved connector lead is described herein that protects components that may be attached to either lead in a connection. The charge dissipates in a resistive member that is physically coupled to a conductive member to form at least in part a first lead.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrical connector with an electrically insulating contact carrier and with at least one electrically conducting contact element which is held in the contact carrier. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a manufacturing method for manufacturing a connector of this type. Changes in dimension in the geometry of the contact carrier and also fluctuations in spacing and geometry in the enclosing shielding cause impedance inhomogeneities in the signal propagation direction that adversely influence the signal quality. Furthermore, it may be necessary to purposefully set the impedance so as to differ from the nominal impedance.

Abstract: An active connector is provided that allows for simple designing of devices for high-speed wideband pulse signal transmission without specialized technical know-how in the use of connectors. A connector base has a first connection terminal and a second connection terminal, and houses a first matching circuit, a second matching circuit, and a buffer circuit. The first connection terminal and the second connection terminal can be used as an internal port electrically coupled to a device circuit and an external port electrically coupled to a transmission line, respectively. An input signal inputted into the first connection terminal is supplied to the first matching circuit. The second matching circuit supplies an output signal to the second connection terminal. A buffer circuit between the first matching circuit and the second matching circuit inhibits mutual influences between the input signal and the output signal.

Abstract: An advanced connector assembly enabled to receive and distribute power signals. In one embodiment, the connector comprises a multi-port modular jack, and incorporates a PSE controller board disposed in the rear portion of the connector assembly, e.g., outside the connector housing. The PSE controller board controls the power to a powered device and may be adapted to, for example, distinguish whether the device is a short circuit or a network interface card, guarantee the supply of power to selected ports, and prevent cables from transmitting abnormal power. Heat removal features are also optionally utilized to effectively dissipate heat produced by the electronic or signal conditioning components utilized on said multi-port modular jack. In some embodiments, the PSE controller board is also optionally made removable from the jack housing.
