Abstract: An electrical contact for use in a releasable connector part having a closed-end metal shell with resilient springlike sidewalls, the shell closed-end contactingly covering an opening in a shield plate when the connector is unmated. When mated, a corresponding contact in the other connector part passes through the shield plate opening moving the metal shell closed-end away from the shield plate and into current conducting relation with a shaft connected with a cable wire. In an alternate version, the metal shell closed-end moves into connective relation with an end wall of a further metal shell interconnected with the cable wire.
Abstract: A press-fit connector has a compliant portion formed as a fusiform, laterally bifurcated tube having two oppositely disposed "C" shaped sections for engaging the surface area of a plated-through-hole in a printed circuit board.
Abstract: A terminal connection pin for solderless connections comprising a press-fit section which is insertable into a contact through bore of a printed circuit board to provide a solderless electrical and mechanical connection between the terminal connection pin and the contact through bore of the printed circuit board, wherein the terminal connection pin has a generally square cross section with an enlarged press-fit section having a groove extending parallel to its longitudinal axis and providing at least two contact paths in an axial direction which are opposite one another and have a limited flexibility.
Abstract: A terminal base assembly for an electric meter characterized by an insulating base with a jaw terminal for receiving a mating blade terminal of a meter, an electric conductor for conducting current to the jaw terminal, a mounting clip for releasably mounting the jaw terminal in the hole and including offset side walls adjacent to facing walls of the hole and in face-to-face contact with the opposite sides of the jaw terminal, and fastening means securing the jaw terminal, the electric conductor, and the mounting clip together.
Abstract: In connection with a small-sized contact pin package for engagement with a plug socket of approximately circular cross-section, it is proposed that the contact pin package should comprise a basic pin, whose cross-section is elongate, over at least a partial section of its length, with a long cross-sectional axis, whose length corresponds approximately to the inside diameter of the plug socket, and with a short cross-sectional axis, and that there should be provided, on at least one of the basic pin partial section lateral surfaces which are vertical to the short cross-sectional axis, a contact spring subjected to bending, which spring extends in the longitudinal direction of the basic pin and is supported on this lateral surface and is conductively connected to the basic pin and is dimensioned with the circumference of the plug socket for electric contact engagement with radial tension.
Abstract: Compliant connector pins for interfering force fit insertion in plated through holes of printed circuit boards are formed as elongated segments of wire stock with chamfered ends, with a stamped central board-engaging portion having a central web and a pair of lateral wing flanges extending sidewise in both directions from one edge of the central web, each wing flange being curved toward the other, opposite edge of the web, thus providing the board-engaging portion of each pin with a cross-section in the shape of the lower case Greek letter epsilon. The ends of the curved wing flanges are stamped inwardly to provide the central board-engaging portion with tapered ends, facilitating force fit insertion of the pins in holes in printed circuit boards.
Abstract: Compressible metal spring washers are mounted around the shank portions of terminal rivets and are clamped against thin conductor laminae of a flexible printed circuit having a resilient resinous plastic base lamina, clamped by the rivets against a relatively rigid plastic terminal supporting member. Each washer has a central dished portion, a reversely dished peripheral portion, and a smoothly rounded annular bulging portion therebetween for engaging one of the thin conductor laminae, without cutting into the laminae. The spring washers obviate any looseness of the terminal rivets due to dimensional variations, shrinkage with age, and temperature variations.

Abstract: An electrical coil assembly includes a bobbin having a pair of generally parallel end plates with a pair of terminals inserted into holes in an edge in one of the end plates. A wall is attached to that one of the end plates and extends radially outward therefrom, being formed with a pair of crossholes each aligned with one of the blind holes. A pair of terminals are partially inserted into the blind holes. Each of the terminals includes an elongated slot of reduced width at the end remote from the end plate. A portion of the terminal slot material is lanced out to form a tab at that remote end of the terminal. The close in ends of the terminal slots are lined up with the crossholes. Magnet wire is then wound on the bobbin hub and the two ends of the magnet wire are dressed through respective terminal tabs and then resistance welded thereto. A layer of protective tape is then applied over the surface of the wound coil.
