Abstract: A conductor protector for providing crush resistant support to the conductors in a cable and implementing a ground connection between the metallic shield of a cable and a common ground point employs an elongated, trough-like member composed of electrically conductive, structurally rigid material particularly adapted for use in conjunction with cable shield ground clamps. Conductive extensions project from one end of the conductor protector to provide a conductive path between the cable shield and a location exterior of the cable jacket, eliminating the need to remove the jacket prior to assembly into a ground clamp.

  • Patent number: 6183303
Abstract: A shielded cable connector assembly in which a shielded cable includes an insulating layer formed on an outer peripheral surface of a conductor, and a sheath layer formed on an outer surface of the insulating layer through a braid, and a terminal is pressed to grip the conductor and the insulating layer of the shielded cable, thereby providing the terminal with the shielded cable. The terminal with the shielded cable is inserted into a terminal receiving chamber in a housing body. One side wall of the housing body is notched to form an operation opening at the terminal receiving chamber. A braid contact member projects into the terminal receiving chamber from the operation opening. The braid contact member has a size smaller than an outer diameter of the shielded cable. When the terminal with the shielded cable is inserted into the terminal receiving chamber, the braid contact member is automatically inserted between the sheath layer and the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 6087584
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly simply, and securely, grounds a shielding layer of a telephone cable to a conductive, grounded electrical box housing a protector module. During assembly, an insulation layer is removed from an end of the telephone cable to expose a portion of the shielding layer. The exposed portion of the shielding layer is folded back onto an adjacent, remaining portion of the insulation layer. A first sleeve is inserted into the end of the telephone cable and resides beneath a portion of the shielding layer. A second sleeve, formed of an electrically conductive material, is physically and electrically attached to the electrical box. The end of the telephone cable, having the first sleeve inserted therein, is inserted into the second sleeve.
