Coupling Means Patents (Class 441/50)
  • Patent number: 8790224
Abstract: Aquatic exercise system and method for use in a body of water is presented. In particular, the system comprises a sleeve correspondingly disposable in covering relation to at least a portion of a user's appendage, such as an arm or leg, a securing assembly to secure the sleeve to a user, and at least one fin outwardly extending from the sleeve and structured to increase resistance to the user regardless of the particular directional or rotational movement. In some embodiments, the sleeve is further structured to cover an extremity of a user, such as a hand or foot. Further embodiments include a seat assembly connectable to an access pole of a pool or hot tub. The method includes applying an aquatic exercise system to an appendage of a user, submerging the appendage and system, and moving the appendage and system through water in at least one direction to create resistance.

  • Patent number: 6465810
Abstract: A semiconductor light emitting device easily controlled in reflectance of its cavity edges has formed on the cavity edges of its laser cavity rugged structures including elongated concave portions extending substantially in parallel with bonded surfaces of semiconductor layers forming the laser cavity. The laser cavity is made by sequentially stacking on a substrate an n-type AlGaN cladding layer, n-type GaN optical guide layer, InGaN active layer, p-type GaN optical guide layer and p-type AlGaN cladding layer. The rugged structure is made by first making the cavity edges by etching and then processing the cavity edges by wet etching so that the cavity edges are selectively excavated due to differences in chemical property among semiconductor layers forming the laser cavity caused by differences in composition among them.

  • Patent number: 5238231
Abstract: A mono-air-cell body made of a flexible elastic material and having a hollow interior and no less than one connecting tube for connecting different mono-air-cell bodies together one after another, for making up a shock-absorbing cushion. Each mono-air-cell body can have any shape in its top plan view. Each connecting tube can be a male one having at least one round circumferential groove or a female one having at least one round circumferential ridge so that the male and the female connecting tubes can be joined together, thereby connecting two mono-air-cell bodies together. The shock-absorbing cushion can be composed to have a shape of a band, a plane, a sphere or any three-dimensional shape.

  • Patent number: 5119529
Abstract: A cable hook for securing a cable comprises an elongated body member having a longitudinal aperture generally rectangular in cross-section formed therein and provided on one sidewall with two oppositely tapered surfaces, a cable receiving slot formed between an outer surface of the body member and the aperture for laterally inserting a portion of a cable into the aperture against one wall opposed to the tapered sidewall, a second aperture extending through the body member at approximately right angle to the first aperture, first and second wedge members located in the longitudinal aperture and each provided with an inner surface adapted to engage the cable and an outer tapered surface matching one of the tapered surfaces in the longitudinal aperture and adapted to slide thereon, and a third wedge member insertable in the second aperture and having tapered surfaces for driving the first and second wedge members in opposite direction along their associated tapered surfaces for clamping the portion of the cable
