Publication number: 20150044928Abstract: A non-woven fabric (1) that is modified with activated carbon is needled on an elastic or inelastic textile sheet material (2), preferably a woven fabric or a knitted fabric. With this method, it is achieved that the strength of the textile sheet material (2) can be imparted to a non-woven fabric (1) that is otherwise not tear-resistant, whereby the adsorption properties of the activated carbon that are necessary in protective textiles are completely retained. During needling, the elastic or inelastic textile sheet material (2) is stretched or kept stretched, and stress is relieved after needling. The effect that is thus achieved is that the non-woven fabric (1) does not tear when the textile good or the molded part is stretched again, since the non-woven fabric then is stretched out from a compressed initial state.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2014Publication date: February 12, 2015Applicant: Helfenberger Immobilien LLC & Co Textilforschungs- und Entwicklungs KGInventor: Josef GLASER

The preferred facing material includes, in a first embodiment, a facing layer having an areal weight of about 300 grams/M2, and an air permeability rating of no greater than about 300 CFM/ft2 (FG 436-910 test method). The facing layer reduces the penetration of a slurry of cementitious material during the manufacture of a cementitious board, while permitting the water vapor from the slurry to pass therethrough. The facing materials of this invention can be designed to substantially eliminate the fouling of rolls used in continuous processing of such boards without the use, or with greatly reduced use, of costly viscosity control agents in the slurry.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2003Publication date: July 22, 2004Applicant: Saint Gobain Technical FabricsInventor: John Frederick Porter

Publication number: 20040132368Abstract: Dense, highly stable, high performance ballistic material comprises at least one woven layer of ballistic grade fiber (preferably a stack of such layers) and at least one nonwoven layer of fabric which is entangled with the woven or unidirectional layer by needle felting. The resulting core material does not require assembly of individual woven layers during subsequent manufacture of ballistic articles and exhibits excellent ballistic performance at low areal densities and thicknesses.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2003Publication date: July 8, 2004Applicant: Tex Tech Industries, Inc.Inventors: Allen L. Patent number: 6740385Abstract: Tuftable primary backings comprise a closed-weave, woven tape fabric to which is affixed a coherent web layer comprising staple fibers with fibers oriented in at least two directions and a plurality of the fibers being fused. The web layer is affixed to the fabric by penetration of fibers from the web into the fabric. The backings have substantial weftline straightness and stability against deformations in the machine, cross and off-axis directions. Improved tufted goods and methods for making the composites and tufted goods are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: May 25, 2004Assignee: BP Corporation North America Inc.Inventors: Hugh Chester Gardner, Thomas Lee Baker, Stephen G. Publication number: 20040097153Abstract: A lightweight, flexible, layered insulation composed of glass or ceramic fabric covered with a ceramic coating and overlying an insulating felt made from needled polybenzazole (PBZ) material which is preferably polybenzoxazole (PBO), and which optionally contains a poly(1,3-phenylene isophtalamide) felt material, commercially known as Nomex™, either combined with the PBZ felt or layered beneath the PBZ felt as a separate layer. The insulation is readily applied to a reusable launch vehicle via a silicone adhesive.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2002Publication date: May 20, 2004Applicant: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Daniel R.
