Publication number: 20030157851Abstract: The present invention relates to a non-blocking roll of roofing membrane employing a combination of silicone rubber sealant, non-woven fiberglass scrim and pressure sensitive adhesive. The method utilizes a process by which silicone rubber sealant is applied to the top surface of the non-woven fiberglass scrim and made to penetrate 1/10 to 9/10 of the way into the thickness of the scrim, thus no silicone rubber sealant reaches the bottom or underside surface of the scrim. When used as a liner in absorbent articles, the dual-zoned web combines the advantages of apertured films and soft, nonwoven cover layers in one structure while still being inherently hydrophilic. The liner comprises a web of wet-resilient, hydrophilic basesheet having a three-dimensional topography comprising elevated regions onto which hydrophobic matter is deposited or printed and a plurality of spaced apart depressed regions. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrophobic matter applied to the elevated regions of the basesheet comprises hydrophobic fibers in a contiguous nonwoven web which has been apertured or provided with slits or other openings, such that the apertures or openings overlay a portion of the depressed regions.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Fung-jou Chen, Jeffrey Dean Lindsay, Richard Joseph Kamps, Andrew Michael Lake, Mark Louis Robinson

Publication number: 20020052161Abstract: On a support, a porous resin layer which is opaque in a water-unabsorbed state and capable of turning transparent in a water-absorbed state is formed, and also a water-repellent resin layer is so provided as to exist in the porous resin layer at its some area or areas in a co-existent state, to make up a water-metachromatic laminate. A novel toy element can be provided in which latent images standing invisible in a normal condition are rendered visible by means of water as a medium so as to be visually distinguished.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2001Publication date: May 2, 2002Inventors: Akio Nakashima, Hisayoshi Kato

Publication number: 20020034903Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multifilament yarn formed at least in part from filaments having cross-sectional bilobal S-shapes or Z-shapes. The yarns preferably have a denier per filament in the range of about 0.1 to about 4.0. In addition, fabrics made using the yarns of the present invention are disclosed. The fabrics have high moisture wicking, soft hand, and a silk-like lustrous appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2001Publication date: March 21, 2002Inventors: Richard T. Shoemaker, Tommy L. Patent number: 6294486Abstract: This invention relates to adhesion promotion compositions which provide excellent adhesive characteristics between rubber latices and flexible textile substrates. Such compositions comprise specific mixtures of capped isocyanates which react strongly and thoroughly with rubber latices to promote the adhesion of such latices to textile substrates. Such rubber latices provide the ability to increase the stretch characteristics of the target textile substrate while simultaneously permitting retention of a certain degree of rigidity. Such rubber/textile composites are useful within waistbands as they retain their stretch and rigidity very well even after repeated dry cleanings.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: Milliken & CompanyInventor: Roy Phillip DeMott
