    Abstract: A textile treatment process, treatment bath, and treated fabric are disclosed. The process imparts water repellant, stain resistant, and wrinkle-free properties as well as aesthetically pleasing hand properties to a fabric made in whole or in part of fibers having a hydroxyl group, such as cellulosic fibers, though immersion in an aqueous bath and subsequent heating for curing. The aqueous treatment bath contains a urea resin, polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) and, preferably, fluoroalkyl acrylate co-polymer.

    Abstract: A coated woven textile fabric is disclosed which is formed of synthetic yarns of more than one denier preferably synthetic filamentary yarns of differing deniers. A polymeric coating such as polyurethane is layered on at least one side thereof, but may also be provided on both sides. The combination of yarns of different deniers provides a superior adhesion surface for the polymeric coating. The yarns and the polymeric coating are preselected respectively in deniers and thickness so as to render the fabric substantially impermeable to fluid under pressure, while maintaining superb packageability and antiblocking properties for use in vehicle occupant restraint systems. A flexible lightweight air bag for receiving and containing fluid under pressure for use in a vehicle air restraint system is also disclosed, incorporating the woven textile fabric of the invention.

The cover has an inner surface (104) defined by a liquid-permeable layer (202) and an outer surface (102) defined by a liquid-impermeable layer (204). A moisture-absorbing layer (206) is sandwiched between the liquid-permeable layer and the liquid-impermeable layer. The liquid-permeable layer allows vapor and liquid moisture beneath the cover to be absorbed into the moisture-absorbing layer to reduce the amount of moisture beneath the cover. The liquid-impermeable layer repels environmental liquid moisture, such as rain, sea spray, dew and the like and prevents such moisture from penetrating the cover. A radar-influencing layer (308) and vapor corrosion inhibitors (214) may be included in the cover. A method of protecting an object is also disclosed. The method includes covering a metallic object with cover (200).

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a resin-impregnated endless belt structure having a texturized outer surface requires the use of a support structure, either a cylindrical mandrel or a pair of carrying rolls, having a texturized surface. An endless, permeable base structure is placed about the support structure, which is adapted to place the base structure under tension in a longitudinal direction. A polymeric resin material is dispensed onto the outside of the base structure on the support structure. The polymeric resin material totally impregnates the base structure and passes therethrough to coat the texturized surface of the support structure. A layer of polymeric resin material is also built up on the outside of the base structure. The polymeric resin material is then cured, and may be ground to provide the layer of polymeric resin material with a smooth, uniform surface, and the belt structure thus obtained is removed from the support structure.

In a preferred embodiment, the hydrophobic matter applied to the elevated regions of the basesheet comprises hydrophobic fibers in a contiguous nonwoven web which has been apertured or provided with slits or other openings, such that the apertures or openings overlay a portion of the depressed regions.

Such compositions comprise specific mixtures of capped isocyanates which react strongly and thoroughly with rubber latices to promote the adhesion of such latices to textile substrates. Such rubber latices provide the ability to increase the stretch characteristics of the target textile substrate while simultaneously permitting retention of a certain degree of rigidity. Such rubber/textile composites are useful within waistbands as they retain their stretch and rigidity very well even after repeated dry cleanings.
