Abstract: A robot toy includes a body and a controller. The body includes right and left arms, legs, arm-actuating mechanisms, thrust mechanisms, and a driving unit. The arms can be extended forward and back, and are pulled back by a predetermined biasing force in a normal condition. The arm-actuating mechanisms provided at the respective arms allow the corresponding arms to be extended in front of the body against the biasing force. The thrust mechanisms provided at the respective legs allow the corresponding legs to move forward. The driving unit drives one of a pair of the left arm-actuating mechanism and the left thrust mechanism and a pair of the right arm-actuating mechanism and the right thrust mechanism. The driving unit simultaneously drives the arm-actuating mechanism and the thrust mechanism in the same pair.

Abstract: An apparatus hovering winged objects. The apparatus includes an elongate support and a driver with an output shaft that supports a first end of the support. The driver imparts an oscillating displacement to the first end of the support. A body is mounted at a second end of the support and wings are attached to the support at an offset distance from the body. The body is positioned near the second end to swivel or pivot in response to vibration of the support. The driver vibrates the first end at a frequency that shapes the support as a wave, and the frequency is selected or tuned such that the wings are displaced more than the body such by imparting a harmonic frequency on the support. Abstract: An actuation device is provided herein to give self-acting toys more lively and appealing moves. The major characteristic of the present invention lies in that a motor is used to drive a gear assembly which in turn drives a gear on top of the gear assembly to rotate around the axle of the gear assembly. The gear therefore sequentially and periodically gets into contact with a number of eccentric gears arranged along the rotational path. These eccentric gears in turn drive their connecting rods which are connected to various parts of the self-acting toy to swing in various manners.

  • Patent number: 4810227
Abstract: An arm-bending apparatus for toys is disclosed which can allow toys to embrace their user or hang on their user's neck in response to their user's embrace. The apparatus desirably includes a motorized arm-bending means installed inside the toy's body and linked to its arms by strings, and a switching means attached to the bosom or neck of the toy's body likely to have contact with the user's body. When the toy is embraced or released, the switching means controls the operation of the motorized arm-bending means, causing the arms to be bent or spread out respectively.

  • Patent number: 4676764
Abstract: A dancing doll which alternately moves its hips left and right while alternately rotating 180.degree. clockwise and counterclockwise to a melody. The doll includes an upper portion, a hip portion, a leg portion, and a base portion. The upper portion resembles the head to hip portion of a human; the hip portion resembles the hips of a human; and the leg portion resembles the legs through feet of a human. The base portion includes a covering case with a rotating disc at its bottom, a base plate that is pivotally connected to the rotating disc, a switch, a battery, a motor, an I.C. Unit, a speaker, a prime gear, a cam, an actuator, and gearing which will transmit the motion of the motor to the cam and to the actuator and will cause the alternate turning of the rotating disc. A pin pivotally connects the upper portion to the hip portion and a torso supporter, which extends from the right leg into a cavity in the upper portion. The feet are connected to the top of the covering case.

  • Patent number: 4536167
Abstract: A rocking mechanism for providing an interesting, apparently random motion for a toy or game using an electric motor with very low battery drain, wherein an unbalancing weight is mounted on a driven wheel driven by a small PM motor, the wheel carrying a cam which controls the action of a first switch connecting the motor to a battery with a second horizontal sensing switch connected in parallel with the first switch, all mounted in a frame which allows it to rock three-dimensionally. In a modified form of rocking mechanism for providing apparently random motion using a spring-loaded motor, an unbalancing weight is mounted on a driven wheel driven by a spring motor linked by a gear train to an oscillating escapement and pin actuator for controlling the unwinding of the motor spring, all mounted in a frame which allows it to rock three-dimensionally.

  • Patent number: 4457100
Abstract: This toy has a kicking foot driven through a mechanical linkage from a battery-powered motor under the control of a manual switch. A toy figure in front of the kicking foot has an articulated leg which is part of a mechanical linkage coupling it to the motor. This articulated leg operates a linkage rod inside the torso of the toy figure to move the figure's arms, turn its head, and cause its jaw to drop open when a kick is delivered. A lamp near the figure's posterior is turned on when the kick is delivered.
