  • Patent number: 11119464
Abstract: A machine learning device of a controller observes, as state variables that express a current state of an environment, feeding amount data indicating a feeding amount per unit cycle of a tool and vibration amount data indicating a vibration amount of a cutting part of the tool when the cutting part of the tool passes through the workpiece. In addition, the machine learning device acquires determination data indicating a propriety determination result of the vibration amount of the cutting part of the tool when the cutting part of the tool passes through the workpiece. Then, the machine learning device learns the feeding amount per unit cycle of the tool when the cutting part of the tool passes through the workpiece in association with the vibration amount data, using the state variables and the determination data.

  • Patent number: 9285200
Abstract: An in-process diameter measuring apparatus equipped with a function of determining a measurement abnormality of a grinding machine is provided. The apparatus measures the diameter of a to-be-processed surface of a workpiece in the process of the workpiece. A sizing device (2) is provided including measuring heads (2X and 2Y) for detecting two locations spaced apart from each other in a diametric direction of the workpiece (W). Based on respective measured values of those measuring heads (2X and 2Y), the diametric dimension is calculated by a dimension calculator (32). With respect to the abnormality detection, the difference between the measured values (G1 and G2) of the measuring heads (2X and 2Y) is determined by a measurement abnormality determiner (34) and the occurrence of the measurement abnormality is determined when this measurement value difference (??) depart from a predetermined permissible range.

  • Patent number: 8360819
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for grinding a machine part that is used as a drive shaft, for example, rotates about the longitudinal axis thereof during the grinding process, and is provided with a journal at one axial end thereof and a recess at the opposite end thereof. The grinding process is carried out in one and the same grinding machine. In said grinding method, the machine part is brought into different clamped states by means of a chuck of a workpiece spindle head with releasable clamping jaws and a centering tip, a backrest, and/or a tailstock quill. Changing the clamped states has the advantage that the machine part remains in the same position in a single grinding machine, i.e. the clamped position, in all the different clamped states such that more accurate sizes, shapes, and positions can be obtained in an economical manner and all areas of the machine part which are to be ground are successively accessible to the grinding disks.

A motor is provided to produce relative angular movement between the housing and the shaft to displace the spindle laterally with respect to the first axis and into contact with the inner surface of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6012973
Abstract: When honing working cylinders for reciprocating piston-type machines or engines, e.g. internal combustion engines, unlike in conventional honing methods working takes place with a much higher axial speed than circumferential speed. This gives a mark pattern, which admittedly differs significantly from the axial direction, but runs more in the axial direction than in the circumferential direction. On the dominant mark pattern can be superimposed in a finishing operation a honing mark pattern, which has much finer honing marks and creates a plateau surface with diamond-shaped islands pointing in the working direction of the piston. A thus treated working cylinder, in the case of limited wear, leads to much lower oil consumption on the part of the engines.

Abstract: An apparatus for blast cleaning a generally vertical surface is disclosed. The device features a blast cabinet containing a blast wheel rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis. The blast wheel is positioned adjacent to an opening in the cabinet through which it propels abrasive material against the vertical surface being cleaned. Rebounding abrasive again contacts the rotating blast wheel. This contact deflects the particulate through a rebound corridor, to the side and into-a filter. The abrasive then falls into a storage hopper for reuse. A conveyor is rotatably mounted so as to catch leaked particulate matter. The conveyor features a pair of opposing feed screws that meet in the middle of the conveyor so that leaked particulate matter is projected up to the blast wheel in a manner similar to a water fountain. The particulate matter is then propelled by the blast wheel to the rebound corridor.

Abstract: The combined grinding machine for internal spline includes three grinding heads for processing a bore of internal spline parts. The machine clamps a workpiece and at the same time can finish grind during the bore and spline operation and boring one of its end faces. The machine has a grinding head for boring and grinding head for a side boring a spline installed in a main sliding plate which moves on a vertical shaft of the machine body. The machine has a rotary table installed in a removable working table driven by a motor unit. Both the working table and the grinding head for the spline end face are located in the machine body. The machine demonstrates high efficiency, high precision, and low equipment investment. The machine saves time for aligning and clamping procedures.

  • Patent number: 5679061
Abstract: An annular workpiece having an inner peripheral surface and an outer peripheral surface at least one of which is centered on a workpiece axis is ground by supporting the workpiece hydraulically on a liquid layer in a support for rotation about the axis, rotating the workpiece about the axis, and engaging a grinding tool radially against the one surface and thereby removing material from the one surface. A plurality of measuring shoes are supported at angularly equispaced locations about the axis and are urged radially toward the one surface. A jet of liquid is projected from each of the shoes against the one surface such that the liquid forms a layer supporting the shoes on the one surface and merges with the liquid supporting the workpiece. The radial positions of the shoes are monitored relative to the axis and the removal of material from the one surface by the grinding tool is controlled, either by varying grinding force or stopping grinding altogether, in accordance with the monitored radial positions.

  • Patent number: 5554063
Abstract: A centerless grinding machine comprises a stationary disk, a following disk, and a shoe, which cooperate to hold and rotate a workpiece. The following disk is mechanically loaded to the bias towards the stationary disk and the shoe so that the workpiece is secured between an outer circumference of the disks and the shoe. A diameter detector detects an outside diameter of the workpiece by detecting a displacement of the following disk by the workpiece. From this information, a controller controls an X-Z grinder to grind an inner surface of the workpiece. This grinding is in response to the outside detector detected by the diameter detector. As a result, the inner diameter can be machines to closer tolerances than are available in the outer diameter.
