  • Patent number: 11040432
Abstract: A method for manufacturing hand tools, such as wrenches. The method generally includes the steps of providing a flat stock, cutting the flat stock into the desired two-dimension blank using a laser, and three-dimensionally machining the laser-cut 2D blank into the desired three-dimensional workpiece. The tool may undergo a heating treatment process and a surface treatment process. In the context of a wrench, the blank may be laser cut with a laser beam oriented to cut generally perpendicularly to the plane of the flat stock. After laser cutting, the handle and interface region between the handle and jaw(s) are machined to provide the desired three-dimensional shape. For example, the three-dimensional shape may be selected to provide a comfortable grip even when applying a high level of force. The wrench jaw may have an optimized geometry calculated so that there is no excess material or “over-designed” regions of the jaw. The wrench jaw has internal corners with optimized radii.

Abstract: A high speed polishing device useful for polishing a large number of miniature components, such as multi-layer electronic components, is disclosed. In various embodiments of the present invention, a vertical planetary ball mill or other barrel polishing device is modified to rotate polishing containers having a modified interior cavity structure. This interior cavity provides a smooth, gradually curved interior sidewall that improves circulation within the container during high-speed vertical polishing rotation. The improved circulation results in polishing for a larger number of components placed within the container and in less time than existing polishing container structures. In further embodiments, the containers are rotated around a generally tilted axis positioned at an angle between entirely vertical and horizontal positions. Rotation about a tilted axis further reduces collisions and increases relative polishing movement within the container.

A load on the drive motor for the rotary disk is preset as by a load current value, and the flow of the mass (M) in the polishing tank is controlled, thereby effecting polishing while maintaining the load on the drive motor within the preset range.

Abstract: A process for the artificial aging of stones, particularly concrete blocks, clinker blocks and natural stones, provides for the stones to be applied to a support. Impact units that move essentially freely are applied to the surface of the stones that is to be processed. The stones and the impact units are set in motion in relation to each other by vibration of the support in such a way that the impact units act on the surface and the adjacent, exposed edges of the stones.

Abstract: A machine for finishing automotive wheels having a rotatable turret, a plurality of containers or barrel cages journaled on the turret capable of selective rotation independent of the turret, with cartridges loaded into said containers or cages from the end through openings in the turret and fixtures in the containers that stably hold automotive wheels in said containers for selective reception of said media. The wheels are held in stable position by a fixture that comprises two part cushioned supports for permitting selective reception of media about the surface of the wheel that requires finishing. The cartridges may be loaded in and out of the barrel cages by means of a conveyor system.

  • Patent number: 7056197
Abstract: A dry surface treating apparatus of the present invention comprises, within a treating chamber, a surface-treating material supply section and a tubular barrel having a porous peripheral surface for accommodating a work piece, to treat a surface of the work piece while rotating the tubular barrel horizontally arranged about a horizontal rotational axis, wherein the tubular barrel has a slide stop for stopping a slide of the accommodated work piece along an inner peripheral surface of the tubular barrel due to rotation of the tubular barrel. According to the dry surface treating apparatus of the invention, because the work piece is inverted of surfaces within the tubular barrel, the time the work piece at each surface faces the surface-treating material supply section is made equivalent. Consequently, it is possible to provide even deposited-film formation or surface treatment to the opposite surfaces of a work piece, particularly, a rare earth metal-based permanent magnet in a plate or bow form.

Abstract: A wrench manufacturing process for manufacturing a rotational-tube wrench comprises the steps of forging, annealing, rolling, punching, drawing, polishing, surface grinding, CNC rough cutting, thermal treatment, vibrating, electroplating, CNC fine cutting and assembling. The additional steps of thermal treatment and CNC or MC fine cutting not only enhance the structural toughness of the wrench but also guarantee high degree of roundness for the receptacle space thereof. The CNC or MC fine cutting also provides the inner wall of the receptacle space with fine tool marks so that the confinement strength of a rotational tube without ratchets therein can be significantly enlarged.

Abstract: An apparatus and process of surface finishing golf balls prior to painting is provided. The apparatus and process make use of nylon loops as a finishing material that is used to abrade the surface of adjacent moving golf balls. Optionally, the abrading process between the nylon loops and the surface of the golf balls may be carried out in the presence of a continuous stream of water. As water is removed from the processing equipment, the removed water carries with it abraded material. The process provides for improved adhesion of the paint to the surface of the golf ball.

  • Patent number: 6875081
Abstract: A method for forming a tool having a smooth surface finish is disclosed. The method involves the step of first rotating a plurality of tools within an inner vessel at high speed relative to the outer vessel with a first abrasive. The first abrasive is then removed and a second abrasive is added to the vessel. The inner vessel is then rotated, again at high speed, with the second abrasive. The resulting tools have reduced surface anomalies.
