  • Patent number: 10556271
Abstract: A jig and tool are provided for rotating the tool around a pipe or pipeline, for truing the pipe end. An operator can easily installation the jig into the pipe end, with or without the cutting tool installed thereto. The tool can be manually or motor driven for rotation about the jig and the pipe end. The attachment of the tool to the jig enables alignment of the tool's cutting face with the pipe end, with angular and axial adjustment available for obtaining a profile suitable for welding to like pipe ends. In an embodiment, the tool can track the pipe diameter to retain alignment despite out-of-round dimensional variation. The tool is operated and rotated about the pipe end to remove material and, as necessary, the tool is adjusted into the pipe end and the rotation about the pipe end is repeated for incremental removal of material therefrom.

  • Patent number: 8585464
Abstract: A lapping system includes a shaft. A stabilizing member is coupled to the shaft. A lapping tool is coupled to the shaft and spaced apart on the shaft from the stabilizing member. An adjustable force device is coupled to the shaft, the stabilizing member, and the lapping tool. The adjustable force device is operable to be adjusted in order to cause the stabilizing member to support at least some of the weight of the lapping tool. The lapping system may be coupled to a valve body having a valve face to ensure alignment of the lapping tool and the valve face while providing a controlled, vertical force from the lapping tool to the valve face.

  • Patent number: 6960121
Abstract: In a method for honing a bore having first and second sections sequentially arranged in an axial direction of the bore, wherein the first section is hardened so that the first and second sections have different hardness, a honing tool is radially supported by positioning guides of the honing tool on the second bore section. first section is machined with honing stones arranged on the honing tool to remove material from the first section. During machining of the first section, the honing tool is expanded by feeding the honing stones according to a defined feeding mode against a surface of the first section by a force-guided electro-mechanical advancement. During machining of the first section, the working stroke of the honing tool is adjusted continuously at least toward the end of the honing process. Feeding of the guides is realized independently of feeding of the honing stones.

  • Patent number: 6106370
Abstract: The pipe cleaner attachment includes a housing, a shuttle, and a shuttle guide. The housing has a closed end, an open end, a key and two brush levers and brush pad guide slots. The shuttle guide is a rod clamped in a bore through the closed end of the housing. The end of the rod outside the housing is clamped in a drill chuck for use. The shuttle is slideably mounted in the housing on the shuttle guide and engages the housing key, A pair of brush levers are pivotally mounted in the brush guide slots. A brush pad is attached to an end of each brush lever. Burnishing grooves are provided in the shuttle for burnishing the open ends of pipes with two different diameters. Upon insertion of a pipe into the housing, the pipe end is reamed, the burnishing grooves burnish the pipe end, the shuttle is moved toward the closed end and the brush pads clean the outside surfaces of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5931728
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for machining a valve seat (1a) in a valve housing (1). The housing has a circular opening (1d) which is concentric with the seat (1a) and about which is a flat annular surface (1e). The arrangement comprises a support (2) arranged such that it is held by the valve housing (1) and such that, in an axial direction perpendicular to the plane of the annular surface (1e), it holds a tool pillar (3). At its distal end the tool pillar (3) has a machining tool (4). The support (2) comprises firstly a main part with three wings uniformly distributed about the tool pillar (3). Each wing comprises a first wing part (2b) which is operatively connected to the first wing part so that these wing parts (2a, 2b) can slide relative to each other along the sliding surface. Members (2b2, 2b3, 2b4, 2b5) are provided for detachably securing the wing parts (2a, 2b) relative to each other and the support (2) relative to the valve housing (1).
