Coins are fed from a central loading area through an infeed opening into an infeed area having a height permitting unrestricted outward travel of the coins to a peripheral limit having a generally helical shape. The coins are then fed into a coin-processing channel having a first portion for partially separating face-stacked coins. The coins then pass to a second ramped channel portion providing a gradual depessing of the coins and a sudden release into a third channel portion. An inwardly positioned camming lobe and an outwardly positioned expanded area are provided to facilitate lateral separation of the coins upon their release from the second channel portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1985Date of Patent: October 4, 1988Assignee: Childers CorporationInventors: Roger K. Patent number: 4731043Abstract: A coin sorter of the type wherein coins are sorted by the combination of a sorting head and rotated resilient disc in which the inner edge of the coins are radially referenced as they rotate, and coins of a discrete diameter of ejected at discrete circumferential points by a series of ramp-slot combinations in which the radially positioned ramp depresses a discrete diameter of coin into a slot. The slots are configured to direct coins caught in a slot outward.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1987Date of Patent: March 15, 1988Assignee: Ristvedt-Johnson, Inc.Inventors: Victor G. Patent number: 4681128Abstract: A coin sorter in which a sorting head is positioned over a rotating pliable disc and wherein coins are sorted by the combination of an outwardly extending tapered edge and a series of pins generally positioned in an outwardly extending line spaced from the tapered edge. The spacing between the line of pins and tapered edge increases with outward dimension, whereby coins of different diameter are urged over the tapered edge by different pins at different positions. The coins are then captured between the head and pliable disc and rotated to exit positions which are unique for each coin about the outside of the sorting head.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1986Date of Patent: July 21, 1987Inventors: Victor G.
