Patent number: 5765635Abstract: An air conditioner for cooling or heating partitioned zones of an interior of a vehicle includes an air conditioning part and air curtain forming apparatus. The air conditioning part cools and heats intake air. The cooled or heated intake air is supplied to the air curtain forming apparatus. In the air curtain forming apparatus, the cooled or heated air entering the air feeder from the air conditioning part is discharged to an air curtain forming part arranged in plural positions of the interior of the vehicle, and sprayed to form the air curtain by an air spray nozzle part and air suction nozzle part. The sprayed air is admitted to an air-exhaust part to be recirculated to the air feeder or externally discharged. A microprocessor controls the air conditioning part and air curtain forming apparatus by receiving various control signals from a temperature/operation controlling part, a temperature/recognition sensor and a mode selector.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Daewoo Electronic Co., Ltd.Inventor: Harng Rhee

Patent number: 5716268Abstract: A device for removal of deleterious impurities from room atmosphere comprises an exhaust hood, a means for delivery of inflow air into the emission zone of deleterious impurities and incorporates slotted nozzles arranged around the perimeter of the hood and oriented towards the source of deleterious impurities, and an apparatus for distributing air from the delivery air duct to the slotted nozzles. The air-distributing apparatus has the form of a distributing chamber disposed in the central part of the hood, communicating with the delivery air duct and provided with pressure branch pipes, one per slotted nozzle, connected, each,;with the corresponding nozzle at the point equidistant from the ends of said nozzle. In a preferable embodiment the nozzles are provided with cellular attachments and the slot width "b" of each nozzle complies with the following ratio: ##EQU1## where b--nozzle width, m;F--cross-sectional area of hood, sq.m;P--hood perimeter, m;H--height of hood above source of deleterious impurities.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1997Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: PlymoVent ABInventors: Andrei Semenovich Strongin, Alexandr Mikhailovich Zhivov, Evgeny Ovseevich Shilkrot, Bengt Gunnar Lindestrom

Patent number: 5607354Abstract: An air distribution unit for mounting in the wall or floor of a room having a plenum space behind the wall or floor, comprises a housing having an air inlet for communication with the plenum space and an air outlet; a blower between the air inlet and air outlet for drawing air from the plenum space and exhausting it through the air outlet into the room; and a grill assembly mounted over the air outlet. The grill assembly has aerodynamically profiled air distribution channels which may be circumferentially disposed, extending between the upper and lower surfaces thereof. The air distribution channels open out onto the upper surface of the grill assembly at a shallow angle in a radially outward direction so that air flowing out of said channels is directed outwardly at an angle of between about 15.degree. and 45.degree. to the plane of the grill assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1995Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: Scots Pine EnterprisesInventors: Peter Mill, Richard Tice

Patent number: 5395410Abstract: An improved fume exhauster includes a housing forming therein a receiving space in which a suction and filtration unit is disposed. Fastened to the lower portion of the receiving space of the housing is a bottom plate having a fume sucking hole and a plurality of air exit holes arranged at a predetermined interval along left, right and front edges thereof. The fume is sucked in through the fume sucking hole of the bottom plate and is subsequently filtered by a filtration member. The filtered fume (clean air) is caused to pass through the air exit holes to form an air curtain under the fume exhauster. The air curtain acts to prevent the dissipation of the fume so as to reinforce the sucking and exhausting effect of the fume exhauster.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1993Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Inventor: Sun-Sing Jang

Patent number: 5301457Abstract: A chaise lounge and upright chair, representing two embodiments of the invention, each having a frame with tubular components forming a primary air plenum having a predetermined orientation with respect to an occupant in a normal position sitting on the upright chair or lying on the chaise lounge. A blower unit is connected to the air plenum and the tubular components have a plurality of air nozzles with axes pointing in specific directions to produce air stream barriers which cover and bathe the occupant of the chair. Opposed rows of air nozzles, on opposite sides of the occupant, have axes pointing outwardly from the chair and laterally inwardly to intersect at approximately a vertical centerline plane of the chair to cover the occupant between the two rows of nozzles. Additional nozzles protect other parts of the occupant so that in both embodiments, air stream barriers are produced which protect the occupant from head to feet.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1993Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Inventor: James R. Patent number: 5277655Abstract: Ventilating apparatus for farm equipment used in the fumigation of crop fields including the provision of a ducted blower unit disposed directly above the head of a fumigation equipment operator so as to cause a continual downward flow of air over the operator's body when the equipment is in use. The apparatus includes a shroud for housing an electrically or hydraulically driven fan which collects air from the space above the tractor and forces it downward in a flow enveloping the operator. In alternative embodiments, various filtration devices may be utilized as well as flow directing deflector assemblies, heat exchangers and misting applicators.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1992Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Trical, Inc.Inventors: Dean C. Patent number: 5263897Abstract: A fluid suction nozzle and a fluid-treating apparatus are used in the cleaning of air inside a local space. The suction nozzle has a suction passage and plural annular discharge passages surrounding the suction passage. The nozzle is connected with an air cleaner, etc. The air inside a local space is to be drawn in through the suction passage. At the same time, a larger amount of air is to be discharged from the discharge passages. The velocity at which fluid will flow from the outer discharge passage is smaller than that at which fluid from the same source will flow from the inner discharge passage.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignees: Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Churyo Engineering Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Fumio Kondo, Toshihiko Yamanaka, Tetsuo Yoshida, Noritaka Hasegawa

Patent number: 5163360Abstract: A live storage facility provides for the storage of large containers of product in a gas-tight enclosure containing an atmosphere precisely controlled to a preselected gas composition. Containers are introduced into the enclosure through a tunnel and removed through another tunnel, without significantly altering the gas atmosphere or temperature within the enclosure. An externally controlled crane moves and stacks the containers within the enclosure. The storage facility is preferably formed as a hemispherical dome with continuous walls that are impermeable to the gas. In one form, the product is agricultural produce, and there is additionally provided a cooling capability so that the product is stored at reduced temperature.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1990Date of Patent: November 17, 1992Assignee: California Ammonia Co.Inventor: David Petz

Patent number: 5145458Abstract: In a method and apparatus for lifting gas streams, vertical streams of air and/or gases of a great height are artificially formed in the atmosphere, mainly for decontamination purposes, by heating the air throughout a circular area sufficient to produce a shaft effect, so as to form an ascending column of air and/or gases. The air and/or gases are then driven within the column to produce a rotatory movement thereof to form a vortex. Once a column of a sufficient height has been formed, the rotatory driving action on the air and/or gases is interrupted while the heating thereof is maintained so that the vortex is maintained by the lifting force induced by heat.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1990Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Inventors: Pablo Girault, Nicolas Grijalva
