  • Publication number: 20090163131
Abstract: The apparatus and method provide an airflow to a person or group of persons or a space such as within an airplane cabin or cockpit, operating in conjunction with an air supply which produces a high velocity air stream, such as an aircraft gasper (14). Existing systems may filter, purify and/or clean the air supplied to the occupant, and the air exiting the personal air outlet may be adjusted to a relatively high velocity. The narrow, high velocity stream of air forms a turbulent boundary layer, which tends to entrain potentially foul air from the surrounding region and directs it towards the passenger. The airflow from the apparatus and method may have reduced velocity and lower thermal and humidity gradient and may be treated to remove locally-originating contaminants. The apparatus includes a housing which receives a primary stream of air, such as from an aircraft gasper (14) or personal air outlet.

  • Patent number: 7410416
Abstract: A complete plastic HVAC system assembled using individual plastic components for ensuring the efficient and quiet distribution of air from a central air unit to multiple distribution points and preventing heating and cooling losses, the need for installers to stock multiple sized and shaped components, the accumulation of dust, dirt and pollens during storing, installing and use on the surfaces of the individual components. The fittings have a collar sizable to fit both 6 and 7-inch pipe, whether flexible or rigid. The use of plastic fittings, duct and pipe removes the potential of injury commonly associated with conventional metal ductwork, while providing seamless components that can be configured for any type of installation and insure an air tight connection between adjoining surfaces. The individual fittings include a register boot, torpedo boot, straight boot, rigid and flexible pipe and couplers, straight and 90-degree takeoffs, a plastic duct and duct end cap.

The device is comprised of a polyethylene material with an outer flange for securing the fresh air intake to the exterior wall surface. The fresh air intake housing is structured to include an aluminum frame, two sided raised pattern grill of a RX Poly-Med filter medium, manufactured from 100% synthetic fibers. This is to prevent vermin, insects, pollens, and other pollutants from passing through, while permitting the 10% of air flow required by the Nation and Regional Building Codes for residential housing. This washable filter is easily removed or installed by the pull-tab on the front of the vent housing. This Pre-filtering device is designed to prevent snow and rain from entering the fresh air intake duct.

Abstract: A mixer box for mixing two separate sources of air. Air from a first source is fed into a plurality of vented conduits. Each of the vented conduits has at least one vent opening, that allows the air from within the conduits to escape and enter a mixing chamber. Air from a second air source flows into the mixing chamber around the vented conduits. As the second air source flows around the vented conduits, turbulence is produced that mixes the second air source with the first air source escaping from the vented conduits.
