  • Patent number: 11781778
Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a vent register for use with an HVAC system. The register is defined by a housing comprising top and bottom plates that are permanently joined to create an interior compartment. The interior compartment imparts an insulative quality to the register by providing resistance to an increase or decrease in temperature, such as when cooled air is flowing through the system. The interior compartment can be hollow and filled with air, foam, or any insulative material. In use, the register prevents or reduces the incidence of condensation forming on the face of the register during use.

  • Patent number: 11759963
Abstract: A portable environmentally friendly clipping tool that includes spring biased upper and lower hinged rigid members, removable clipping teeth, and side walls, forming an enclosed storage area for trapping clipped remains until the user finds a non-polluting location to dispose of the trapped clippings. Clipping removal is facilitated by raising a hinged side wall on the tool enabling the user to pour out the stored clippings from the tool. A pair of C-shaped walls within the tool are positioned in a way that during non-use, the lower portion of one C-shaped wall blocks the open portion of the second C-shaped wall. When the user pushes down on the upper rigid member, a clipping action can take place and the open portion of both C-shaped walls align, allowing clipped remains to migrate into the enclosed storage area of the clipper and be captured for later disposal.

  • Patent number: 8419515
Abstract: An air register for diffusing air away from an existing air duct may include a body with an open panel and plurality of louvers situated therealong. The body may include a plurality of planar side walls extending orthogonally to the panel and disposed inwardly from an outer perimeter thereof. A mechanism may be included for articulating the interconnected louvers between open and closed positions. A second mechanism may be included for magnetically affixing the planar walls to the existing air duct. In operation, the magnetically affixing mechanism may be automatically displaced outwardly and away from the planar side walls while the interconnected louvers biasing mechanism is toggled between the open and closed positions. In this manner, the body may be maintained at a substantially stable position during articulation of the interconnected louvers by maintaining the magnets firmly against the walls of the air duct.

  • Patent number: 7108600
Abstract: The present invention provides an air duct registrer for adding forced air (heat, air conditioning), exhausting air or simply to balance air quality. The air duct register has a manifold and is designed with a removable manifold collar connectible to the flexible or rigid duct. The manifold has thumb cam fasteners to provide ease of installation from below the finished ceiling. With the duct in place above the ceiling elevation, the appropriate opening can be cut and all connections can be made below ceiling elevations via the manifold collar opening. The duct is routed through the manifold opening and connected onto the manifold collar retainer barbs. The manifold collar plate can then be snapped securely into the manifold. The grille then slides into the manifold and is pushed tight to the finished ceiling.

  • Patent number: 6007422
Abstract: A universal damper mounting system and method for mounting a damper within an opening in a wall includes the use of a plurality of metal straps, each of which is initially formed into an roughly S shape with one leg being longer than the thickness of a wall into which the damper is being installed and also being longer than an opposite leg. The damper includes a rectangular housing with top and bottom peripheral sealing flanges on one side of the housing. A first pair of the straps are abutted against the top sealing flange and a second pair are abutted against the bottom sealing flange with the opposite leg of each strap being folded over a respective one of the top or bottom sealing flanges. The damper is then placed in the wall opening and the terminal ends of the long legs of each strap are bent upward or downward, depending upon the position, to overlap the wall surface. The straps thus serve to retain the damper in the wall.

  • Patent number: 5771647
Abstract: Disclosed is an air-flow-directing grille assembly of the type having two frame members and a grille bar supported by such frame members for pivoting movement about a grille bar axis. In the improvement, each frame member has a hole, the bar has an axle extending through the holes and each hole and the axle are cooperatively sized to provide a friction fit between such hole and axle. The grille bar is thereby frictionally retained in a position. A new method for making a grille assembly includes providing a pair of frame members, each having a hole therethrough of a first diameter. A grille bar is provided to have an axle with a second diameter at least equal to the first diameter. The axle and the frame member holes are urged into frictional engagement with one another and the grille bars will thereby hold a selected air-flow-directing position.
