  • Patent number: 10830464
Abstract: A fresh-air cooling system for a building structure having an unvented attic is provided. The system provides airflow pathways that allow outside air to be drawn through, and discharged from, a building having an unvented attic. Dampers with a low thermal conductivity regulate airflow through the building structure. The system allows a whole house fan to cool a building having an unvented attic. The system seals or otherwise alters airflow pathways through the building structure in order to reduce heat transfer between the building and the outside environment when the cooling system is not in use.

An attraction between a magnetic component on the inlet-side member and a magnetic component on a rotating fan blade may cause the inlet-side member to rotate, moving the material into the folded configuration. When the fan blade is not rotating, a spring attached at a pivot point may cause the inlet-side member to rotate in an opposite direction, moving the material into the expanded position.

  • Patent number: 5645483
Abstract: A ventilator to be mounted over a square opening in a roof of an establishment producing smoke below. The ventilator has a lower transitional section transforming a square configuration into a round configuration and an upper section in the shape of a cylinder attached to the lower section. The cylinder has an axial force fan mounted therein to create an upwardly moving stream of smoke-laden air therein. The lower section has symmetrically spaced lateral openings in its wall to cause an aspiration of ambient air into the air stream to thereby mix ambient air into the air stream and to thereby reduce the concentration of smoke micro-particles being emitted into the ambient air surrounding the establishment. On top of the cylinder there is provided a self-operating cover to close the ventilator when not in use.
