Tear lines of relative weakness are formed at spaced intervals along the elongated body. The tear lines may be formed by score lines, perforations, or otherwise and are configured to allow the body of the ridge vent to be separated manually at a selected tear line by grasping the body and tearing along the tear line. Depending partitions may be disposed on the underside of the body on either side of each tear line to form end walls at new ends formed when the ridge vent is separated along a tear line.

Included in the top cap flashing are a plurality of ventilation apertures defined by edge wall portions. A tile roof is provided, of the flat, low profile undulating, or of the S-tile (undulating) type. Tiles are provided in rows up to the edge of the sub-flashing. The gap between the top of the tiles and the bottom of the top cap flashing is preferably provided with a weathertight seal.     Abstract: Membrane roofs are susceptible to damage in high winds. Wind can lift a membrane roof from a building and cause it to tear or become damaged. The present roof vent prevents liftoff and damage by reducing the air pressure under the membrane during high winds. The present roof vent has two opposed convex domes separated by a gap. Wind blowing across the roof flows between the domes where it accelerates and creates a region of low pressure according to the Venturi effect. The lower dome has an opening at the gap so that the low pressure is applied to the space under the membrane roof. Therefore, when wind blows across the roof, the vent draws air from under the membrane and the membrane is pressed against the roof, preventing liftoff.

    Abstract: A ridge vent adapted specifically for use with tile roofs having a nailer board installed at a ridge of a roof. The ridge vent includes a main body portion having a pair of eaves and a neck portion. The neck portion includes a plurality of projections on opposing inner walls thereof to maintain a minimum predetermined spacing between the inner walls and the nailer board, to thereby create airflow paths around opposing sides of the nailer board. A pair of weather blocking panels are secured to the nailer boards to help block rain, snow, etc. from entering though openings in the eaves. Each weather blocking panel includes a laterally extending portion with a plurality of slots and an upwardly extending edge portion. The upwardly extending edge portion creates a venturi effect over the slots to help draw air out therethrough when wind is blowing over the upwardly extending edge portions.

The upper water barriers extend beyond the vent material and over the vent slot where they overlap one another.     Abstract: A ridge seal molding has a back section for nailing to a ridge beam, and a front section formed at an angle to the back section and having a shape in the direction of the length to substantially continuously contact adjacent tiles along a front edge. In various embodiments there are one or more reinforcing ribs in the general direction of the width of the molding. In some embodiments two or more nail positions are marked in the back section for use with roofs of a specific pitch range, UV resistant material to provide improved durability, a receptacle groove formed along the front edge and opening downward toward the tile, such that a sealing material may be placed in the groove prior to installing the ridge seal molding to a roof ridge, and panels simulating a concrete surface for a mudded-in look.

    Abstract: A ridge vent assembly extends along a roof ridge of a building. One embodiment has corrugated plies defining small diameter passages that communicate a vent opening cut along the ridge of the roof with ambient atmosphere. A moveable valve member extends along the outer edge of the vent parts and includes a lift spacer to keep the valve member spaced from the roof when in an inactive position. When wind speed increases above a predetermined wind speed, the movable member moves into a position adjoining the edge of the vent parts and the bubble is compressed against the upper edge of the corresponding vent part, thereby preventing entry of wind driven moisture and snow into the passages and into the building structure through the vent opening. Accordingly, the moveable valve member acts as a weatherstripping material for the vent. A similar flexible member is usable to weatherstrip windows, doors, and other building openings.
