  • Patent number: 11924137
Abstract: A method and system for minimizing the control overhead in a multi-carrier wireless communication network that utilizes a time-frequency resource is disclosed. In some embodiments, one or more zones in the time-frequency resource are designated for particular applications, such as a zone dedicated for voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications. By grouping applications of a similar type together within a zone, a reduction in the number of bits necessary for mapping a packet stream to a portion of the time-frequency resource can be achieved. In some embodiments, modular coding schemes associated with the packet streams may be selected that further reduce the amount of necessary control information. In some embodiments, packets may be classified for transmission in accordance with application type, QoS parameters, and other properties. In some embodiments, improved control messages may be constructed to facilitate the control process and minimize associated overhead.

  • Patent number: 11805395
Abstract: A system and method for delivering and receiving Short Message Service (SMS) messages between users connected to satellite and cellular networks. The system includes a communication device capable of operating in both satellite and cellular modes, a satellite service provider, a satellite proxy network, and a cellular operator. The method involves monitoring the network mode of the user device, relaying information about the user device's connection to the satellite network via a specially formatted SMS payload and registering the user device with a cellular operator when in satellite mode. The satellite proxy network serves as an anchoring point for sending and receiving SMS messages, ensuring seamless message exchange between satellite network users and cellular network users. The user device is designed to automatically switch between satellite and cellular modes based on network availability, ensuring continuous communication.

  • Patent number: 11805403
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing updates to user devices, and in particular, SIM-based OTA updates. In some cases, SIMOTA updates need to be made while a user device has a cellular connection (e.g., 4G/LTE, 5G). As such, an instruction is transmitted to the user devices that need a SIM-based update but that currently have a non-cellular connection. The instruction is for the user devices to deregister from the non-cellular connection and to reregister using a cellular connection. An indication is received that at least a portion of those user devices now currently have a cellular connection. The SIM-based updates are then transmitted to those user devices.

Abstract: Network equipment in a wireless communication network is configured to receive at least a portion of a subscription concealed identifier, SUCI, (34) for a subscriber. The SUCI (34) contains a concealed subscription permanent identifier, SUPI, (20) for the subscriber. The received at least a portion of the SUCI (34) indicates a sub-domain code, SDC. The SDC indicates a certain sub-domain, from among multiple sub-domains of a home network of the subscriber, to which the subscriber is assigned. The network equipment is also configured to determine, based on the SDC and from among multiple instances of a provider network function in the home network respectively allocated to provide a service to be consumed for subscribers assigned to different sub-domains, an instance of the provider network function to provide the service to be consumed for the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 11785620
Abstract: An external client requests the location of a UE using control plane signaling. The UE sends downlink location measurements, such as Reference Signal Time Differences, for a plurality of base stations (BSs) to a serving BS at a layer 1 or layer 2 protocol level and at first periodic intervals. The UE and the plurality of BSs send additional location measurements, such as receive time-transmission time differences, to the serving BS at second periodic intervals, which are longer than the first periodic intervals. The serving BS uses the additional location measurements and downlink location measurements to determine timing information, such as Real Time Differences, for the plurality of BSs. The serving BS determines the location of the UE using the downlink location measurements and the timing information at the first periodic intervals and sends the location to the external client using user plane signaling to reduce delay.

  • Patent number: 11770672
Abstract: A tracking device can securely communicate with a secondary device by generating a hash value based on the identity of the tracking device. If the secondary device cannot resolve the hash value, the hash value can be provided to a tracking server, such as a cloud server, for resolving the hash value. Upon resolving the hash value, the tracking server can store a location of the tracking device in association with the identity of the tracking device. To preserve power, the secondary device can activate location-detection functionality (such as a GPS receive) only in response to the detection of movement of the tracking device, can obtain location information, and can de-activate the location-detection functionality upon providing the location information to the tracking server. The tracking server can associate one or both of a previous location and the current location information based on movement of the tracking device.

  • Patent number: 11758391
Abstract: A wireless communication system serves wireless user devices based on wireless user device Identifiers (IDs). The wireless communication system detects a loss of synchronization between data repositories, and in response, identifies the wireless user device IDs that were allocated to the data repositories during the loss of synchronization. The wireless communication system reallocates the identified wireless user device IDs to the data repositories. The wireless communication system synchronizes the reallocated wireless user device IDs across the data repositories. The wireless communication system serves wireless data communications to the wireless user devices based on the reallocated and synchronized wireless user device IDs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable media for enforcing a steering of roaming (SoR) decision. More particularly, enforcing the SoR decision includes receiving, at a proxy and from a user equipment (UE) located in a visitor network, a registration message to register with a home network, the registration message including an identifier of the visitor network. The proxy routes the registration message to a steering controller to determine a SoR policy decision. The proxy then enforces the SoR policy decision of the steering controller.

  • Patent number: 11734326
Abstract: Techniques for disambiguating which profile, of multiple profiles, is to be used to respond to a user input are described. A device located in a communal space (e.g., a hotel room or suite of rooms, conference room, hospital room, etc.) may be associated with a device profile and a user profile of a user presently occupying the communal space. When the user inputs a command to the device (either by text or speech), a system associated with the device determines the profiles (e.g., a device profile and a user profile) associated with the device. The system determines one or more policies associated with the device. The one or more policies may correspond to rules for disambiguating which profile to use to execute with respect to the user input. Using the one or more policies, the system determines which profile is to be used, and causes a speechlet component to execute using information specific to the determined profile.
