  • Patent number: 11223429
Abstract: A communication system and method is described, including two or more transceivers at different locations, in which a region of the atmosphere at an altitude ranging from 150-350 KM is modified by applying an E-Field strength of 0.2 V/m to create a High-Frequency Ionized Lines/High-Frequency Plasma Lines (HFIL/HFPL) region. The HFIL/HFPL region provides a means for incoming RF transmission signals to be isotropically repeated and received by transceivers at other distant locations within line-of-sight of the HFIL/HFPL region. Incoming RF transmissions into the HFIL/HFPL region may use radio frequencies ranging from 100 MHz-20 GHz. The system described offers a means for users to transmit data from one over-the-horizon location to another at distances up to 4800 km without wires or physical satellites.

  • Patent number: 10700255
Abstract: A system includes a substrate having a high-temperature superconductor compound film disposed thereon. A first superconducting region is formed within the film and has a first stabilized oxygen content. A second superconducting region is also formed within the film and is located adjacent to the first superconducting region. The second superconducting region has a second stabilized oxygen content. A boundary region is formed within the film and separates the first superconducting region from the second superconducting region. A voltage source is connected to the first superconducting region and the second superconducting region. The boundary region emits electromagnetic radiation responsive to an applied voltage from the voltage source to one of the first superconducting region and the second superconducting region. A current flows from the first superconducting region to the second superconducting region, or vice versa, responsive to the applied voltage.

  • Patent number: 10346761
Abstract: Example methods and mechanisms are described herein for implementing and adiabatically operating a topological quantum computing (TQC) phase gate that complements the existing Clifford operations, and thereby allows universal quantum computation with Majorana systems. Further embodiments include a testing system for the phase gate that is feasible with Majorana zero modes and demonstrates violations of the CHSH-Bell inequality. Further, the design used for the testing of the inequality leads directly to a practical platform for performing universal TQC with Majorana wires in which explicit braiding need never occur.

  • Patent number: 9721209
Abstract: Methods for compiling single-qubit quantum gates into braid representations for non-Abelian quasiparticles described by the Fibonacci anyon model are based on a probabilistically polynomial algorithm that, given a single-qubit unitary gate and a desired target precision, outputs a braid pattern that approximates the unitary to desired precision and has a length that is asymptotically optimal (for a circuit with such property). Single-qubit unitaries that can be implemented exactly by a Fibonacci anyon braid pattern are classified, and associated braid patterns are obtained using an iterative procedure. Target unitary gates that are not exactly representable as braid patterns are first approximated to a desired precision by a unitary that is exactly representable, then a braid pattern associated with the latter is obtained.

  • Patent number: 8365994
Abstract: A check-in method for airlines allows passengers to use Short Message Service (SMS) to check-in themselves and baggage. A passenger requests to check-in via SMS from practically anywhere and not limited to the airport. After receipt of the request, a confirmation message is sent back to the passenger's registered mobile phone number by SMS. The system will ask the passenger for, and receive from the passenger, the number of bags they intend to check-in for the flight. The passengers can in some embodiments drop the baggage off without any required further action. The system issues an SMS-based cryptographically secure code, such as a bar-code boarding pass to the passenger once the baggage (if any) is successfully transferred and registered to existing baggage management systems through the process above. This code, when scanned, recognized and authenticated provides identification and security clearance for the passenger to board the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8260344
Abstract: In a mobile phone device 1 including a three-axial direction vibration sensor 16 for detecting the walking of a user carrying the mobile phone device 1 and counting the number of walking steps, when an incoming call is received, vibrations due to a notification operation by a vibrator 14 or a speaker 15 are transmitted to the three-axial direction vibration sensor 16. As a result, the three-axial direction vibration sensor 16 inevitably detects unintended vibrations in addition to vibrations from walking, causing the number of walking steps to be miscounted. To prevent this and perform the accurate detection of walking, in the present invention, the detection of walking is performed without using, among vibrations in three directions detected by the three-axial direction vibration sensor 16, vibrations in the same direction as the direction of vibrations caused by a notification operation by the vibrator 14 or the speaker 15.

The rear-mounted in-vehicle equipment can be denied access to overwriting information related to music data in the front-mounted in-vehicle equipment.

Abstract: A method to supervise a local dynamical system having multiple preset control objectives and operating in conjunction with other dynamical systems. The method includes receiving state input from dynamical systems in an environment at a distributed soft computing level, generating weights and applying the weights to the preset control objectives using soft computing methods to form weighted control objectives. The weights are computed based on the received state input. The method also includes generating a command signal for the local dynamical system based on the weighted control objectives and transmitting the command signal to a controller in the local dynamical system.

  • Patent number: 7533811

Abstract: A tracking system and associated methods for locating animals, such as wounded/downed game animals or non-game animals such as research animals, and/or projectiles configured to be shot at an animal are disclosed. The system includes a transmitter and one or more radio frequency reflectors that are coupled to a projectile. After the projectile is shot, a user utilizes the transmitter to locate the reflector. In some cases, the reflector is integrally coupled to the projectile to allow the user to locate the projectile. In other cases, the reflector is selectively coupled to the projectile so as to be removed from the projectile and attached to the animal when the projectile hits the animal. In such cases, the user may use the transmitter to locate the animal. In still other cases, at least one reflector is integrally coupled to the projectile while another is selectively coupled to the projectile. Accordingly, the user can locate the projectile and the animal.

Abstract: A scent dispenser is integratable into a portable device, such as a mobile handset. The scent dispenser has a vibrating element configured to vibrate in an ultrasound frequency range for dispensing a scent material. Scent dispensing can be in response to an incoming signal received by a mobile handset, but scent dispensing can also be controlled by a user. The scent material is stored in a compartment having a channel with a valve and the vibrating element can be used to open the valve for replenishing the scent material when the vibration is in a low frequency range such as 1-10 Hz. The vibrating element can also be used to produce audio signals. Thus, the scent dispenser can also be integrated with a sound producing unit in a mobile electronic device.
