Patent number: 8572863Abstract: A drying method is provided through a particular arrangement of air intake- and air exhaust roofs, wherein the particular material flows are not only impacted by intake air in an alternating manner from the left and from the right, but also an accumulation of air intake roofs and air exhaust roofs is avoided, which otherwise typically occurs at the separation plane between two chute modules, rotated relative to one another by 180°, which is performed for changing the side of the air impact. This method is advantageous in particular for drying parboiled rice.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2008Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Schmidt-Seeger GmbHInventors: Franz Wiesmeier, Andreas Ehrhardt

Publication number: 20120208609Abstract: A feed system for a biomass collection device uses a conveyor for dropping a flow comprising a mixture of denser or heavier biomass to be collected such as cobs, and less dense or lighter biomass residue such as leaf trash, through a space, and rotary feed apparatus below for receiving the flow, operable for propelling the received flow into a collection device, in combination with a fan configured and operable for directing a flow of air along a second path intersecting the first path in a manner to divert at least a substantial portion of the less dense or lighter biomass residue away from the feed apparatus, while allowing substantially all of the denser or heavier biomass to continue along the first path to the feed apparatus for feeding into the collection device. Distribution apparatus along the second path can then be used to spread the diverted biomass.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2010Publication date: August 16, 2012Inventor: Jonathan E. Ricketts

Patent number: 8231446Abstract: An adjustable vane system for an axial-flow, rotary combine housing that incorporates at least one flat wall section as part of the otherwise cylindrical or oblong, curved housing cover, and adjustable vanes having flat bases that are angularly adjusted on the surface of the flat wall section. The housing includes fixed vanes on a curved portion of the housing cover that have a lead ends, in a direction of circumferential crop movement, substantially in registry with trailing ends of the adjustable vanes. The adjustable vanes include pivot connections near the trailing ends and swing connections near the lead ends of the adjustable vanes. All of the adjustable vanes are gang together and moved together. A mechanism is provided to swing the adjustable vanes from a position corresponding to the normal helical path of the fixed vanes to a bypass position wherein crop flow through the adjustable vanes will skip one or more passes between the fixed vanes on the next pass through the fixed vanes.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2009Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Glenn Pope, Aaron Bruns

Patent number: 6375564Abstract: A rotary combine is equipped with a rotor that has a separating portion having at least one ramp segment mounted to the rotor. The ramp segments provide an inclined face that directs the grain radially outward as the ramp segments move through the crop material. The ramp segments are intermixed with tines on the separator section of the rotor. The ramp segments provide a face that is trapezoidal in shape, having inwardly inclined front and rear edges so that the radially distal edge of the face is shorter than the proximal edge of the face. The trapezoidal shape of the ramp segments assists the ramp segments in shedding crop material and thereby preventing the crop material from becoming entangled thereon.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1999Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Craig Amann, Daniel Marc Heim, Corwin Marcus Raymond Puryk
