  • Patent number: 11549346
Abstract: A system for hydraulically fracturing an underground formation in an oil or gas well, including a pump for pumping hydraulic fracturing fluid into the wellbore, the pump having a pump shaft, and an electric motor with a motor shaft mechanically attached to the pump to drive the pump. The system further includes a torsional coupling connecting the motor shaft to the pump shaft. The torsional coupling includes a motor component fixedly attached to the motor shaft and having motor coupling claws extending outwardly away from the motor shaft, and a pump component fixedly attached to the pump shaft of the pump and having pump coupling claws extending outwardly away from the pump shaft. The motor coupling claws engage with the pump coupling claws so that when the motor shaft and motor component rotate, such rotation causes the pump component and the pump shaft to rotate, thereby driving the pump.

  • Patent number: 10934824
Abstract: The present technology provides an electrically powered hydraulic fracturing system having pumps for pressurizing fracturing fluid, piping for carrying fracturing fluid, and vibration reducing equipment for use with the piping. The vibration reducing equipment includes helical coils that support the piping. The coils are made of a wire rope made of strands of steel cable twisted together. Grooved fittings are provided on some piping connections, and which allow pivoting between adjacent fluid conveyance members. Swivel joints are strategically located in the piping which allow rotational flexing between adjacent sections of the piping; thereby attenuating vibration in the piping but without stressing the piping.

  • Patent number: 6918835
Abstract: Two-step protruding portions are provided in a cover of a pulley for hooking the cover on the pulley. When a bridging part is broken, a driving-unit-side portion of the bridging part is outwardly displaced in a rotation axis direction of the pulley. The first-step protruding portion of the cover thereby slips out from a hooking state. However, after the driving-unit-side portion mounts on the driven-unit-side portion, no further force acts outwardly in the rotation axis direction. As a result, the second-step protruding portion of the cover is hooked on the pulley, so that the cover can be fixed to the pulley. This results in inhibiting broken bridging parts or dampers from dispersing.

  • Patent number: 6802779
Abstract: A hole is formed in a damper rubber, where by when a compressive load is small, pillar portions undergo a flexural deformation so as to result in buckling deformation. On the other hand, when the compressive load becomes large, the hole collapses and the damper rubber undergoes a compressive deformation so as to collapse itself. Thus, since the damper rubber has a non-linear characteristic such that an elastic modulus thereof at an amount of deformation exceeding a predetermined amount is larger than that at an amount of deformation less than the predetermined amount, the transmission of a large torque can be implemented while absorbing a torque fluctuation sufficiently.

Abstract: A torque transmitting device for use with a rotary drill bit connected to a drill collar, comprises a first member connected to the drill collar, a second member connected to the drill bit, and coupling means connecting the two members together for rotation about a common central axis. The coupling means permits limited relative rotation between the members about the axis, but provides a resistance to rotation of the first member relative to the second member in a forward drilling direction which is greater than its resistance to relative rotation in the reverse direction. The comparatively lower resistance to rotation in the reverse direction prevents momentary reverse rotation of the drill collar, due for example to torsional oscillations, being transmitted to the drill. bit. This reduces the likelihood of damage to the cutters on the drill bit, which might otherwise result from such momentary reverse rotation of the bit.

Abstract: A flexible drive coupling for transmitting rotational forces between respective flanges of a driving shaft and a driven shaft. The flexible drive coupling has, in a substantially planar circular configuration, a number of wedges. The wedges have respective end faces facing the adjacent wedges and connected thereto by flexible elements. Alternate wedges attach respectively to the flanges of the driving and driven shafts. The flexible elements consist of a link between two end plates. The mating faces of the link and the end plates are curved so that they co-operate one with the other. An elastomeric filler occupies the space between the curved surfaces of the end plates and the links permitting each end plate to pivot with respect to the link by deforming the elastomeric filler. The end faces of the wedges and, the corresponding faces of the end plates of the flexible elements which face them, have co-operating tabs and recesses to prevent relative radial and axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4795402
Abstract: A resilient shaft coupling having two metal parts that include an inner coupling ring and, coaxial thereto, an outer coupling ring. The facing generated surfaces of the rings are formed with a number of substantially radial cams or dogs which mesh with one another alternately in the circumferential direction and extend to near the pertaining opposite generated surface. Each two circumferentially consecutive cams or dogs form a pair whose adjacent surfaces are concave and delimit a chamber whose longitudinal axis extends parallel to the rotational axis of the coupling, and in which a resilient coupling member is disposed. The coupling members are radially biased or pre-loaded by a predetermined amount, and are secured to the generated surfaces of the inner and outer ring coupling rings. With the coupling in its rest position, gaps or spaces are present between each resilient coupling member and each cam or dog, and permit the members to deform freely and thus to be stressed in shear.

  • Patent number: 4664037
Abstract: A double coupling comprising two flexible couplings are connected to each other through an intermediate hollow shaft and have outer parts on each and each with a hub and radially extending arms between which rubber blocks shaped as ring segments are inserted in a prestressed state. The rubber blocks each comprise a central, radially inwardly narrowing wedge to which two rubber members carrying plates on their free surfaces are symmetrically vulcanized on either side. The wedges are connected to corresponding claws of the intermediate shaft. The wedge and claws, along with the intermediate shaft serves as a common hub portion and form an inner part of the flexible coupling. One hub is secured to a solid shaft and the other hub is secured to a hollow shaft. The solid shaft extends through the hollow shaft and they move relative to each other, even in misaligned positions. As compared to similar prior art couplings for transmitting comparable power, the weight of such a doubling coupling is reduced.

Abstract: There is disclosed a compression loaded torsional coupling device for use in drive shafts to provide a resilient interface between input and output portions of the shaft. Elastomeric cushions between fins extending in alternating fashion from opposed coupling members provide the resiliency. The coupling is produced by a unique process. Elastomer is first inserted into alternating gaps between adjacent fins. This elastomer is then compressed by applying a torque to rotate the coupling members with respect to each other. Elastomer is then placed in the remaining gaps. The torque is then released, permitting the compressive forces to redistribute in the elastomeric material around the circumference of the coupling.
