Formed By Heat Treatment Patents (Class 470/32)
  • Patent number: 8327514
Abstract: A riveting apparatus includes a hot air pipe; a connection pipe coupled to the hot air pipe; a forming tool having a configuration in which peripheral and center portions project downward and portions existing therebetween are curved upward, defined with discharge holes which extend in axial and radial directions, and coupled to a lower end of the connection pipe so that hot air having passed through the connection pipe can be discharged through the discharge holes to heat an end of a rivet to thereby allow the forming tool to form the end of the rivet into the shape of a head; a moving unit coupled to the hot air pipe or the connection pipe to move the forming tool upward and downward; and a guide surrounding the forming tool so that hot air discharged through the discharge holes can be directed toward the end of the rivet.

  • Publication number: 20100119330
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for making a rivet (R), of the type comprising, by deformation of the material of a substantially cylindrical metal segment, the operations of preforming a milled head (100) at the end of a rod (200), characterised in that it comprises, by deformation of the material (cold stamping) the following operations: creating a portion with a lower diameter (210) from the free end; creating a substantially cylindrical hollow core (220) for forming a tubular portion; preforming the hollow core (220) as a truncated cone; performing the lower diameter outer surface as a truncated cone. The invention also relates to the rivet obtained by said method.

  • Patent number: 7465234
Abstract: A hybrid fastening system comprising a female fastener component, i.e., swage collar, fabricated from a titanium or titanium-alloy material, preferably Ti-3A1-2.5V, and a mating titanium or titanium-alloy material male fastener component, i.e., threaded pin, each preferably pre-coated with an organic coating material comprising an organic, phenolic resin. The threaded pin component is installed through two or more structural components to be joined. The swage collar component is then deformed or swaged onto the threads of the pre-coated threaded pin component to achieve the same, if not improved, fastener/joint performance characteristics of existing lockbolt systems using aluminum-alloy material swage collar components.

  • Patent number: 5299441
Abstract: A method of making an elongated mandrel having an end integral with a drill section, with the method including the steps of subjecting a single columnar piece of material to the heading process so as to make a blank N composed of the mandrel, a short stem having one end integral with the end of the mandrel and having a diameter D greater than a diameter of the mandrel, and a flange formed integral with the other end of the stem. The short stem is then cold forged to produce the drill section having end edges (7a) and (7b) facing the flange, and, subsequently, the drill section is trimmed so as to remove the flange together with a scrap resulting from the cold forging of the stem, in such a manner that the mandrel having the integral drill section can be mass produced from the single piece of raw material, efficiently at a reduced cost.
