Marine Patents (Class 472/13)
  • Patent number: 5401117
Abstract: A water ride attraction is disclosed which utilizes a containerless riding surface to eliminate disadvantageous boundary layer effects. A sheet flow of water is directed up the incline to produce a simulated wave. The configuration and contour of the riding surface and the various flow parameters can be widely varied to produce numerous desirable wave conditions.

  • Patent number: 5393170
Abstract: An amusement apparatus for water sports activities wherein a flowing body of water is provided. The water moves across an inclined, declined or horizontal riding surface upon which the velocity, volume and gravitational dynamics of the flowing body of water is such that a rider may perform water skimming/simulated surfing maneuvers thereon. Composite structures with horizontal and inclined surfaces and varying flow velocity over time across specifically shaped structures permit water skimming/simulated surfing maneuvers on unbroken, spilling or tunnel type wave forms. Asymmetry in the downstream ridge line of an inclined surface allows spilling type wave formations as well as facilitating the removal of a transient surge. A novel fluid "half-pipe" waveform is also introduced.

  • Patent number: 5346446
Abstract: An apparatus constructed to be used as a jump rope which includes a tube which sprays water upon a user jumping in a predetermined area. The apparatus includes a connection to a water source, a first handle including an on/off switch and a second handle. An auxiliary clip-on handle may be used for shortening the tube length to permit use by a single person.

  • Patent number: 5314393
Abstract: A jump rope, capable of being connected to a source of water, consists of a hollow tube connected from the source of water to a jump rope handle. The outlet of the jump rope handle is connected to a hollow tube that has a series of small holes. The other end of the hollow tubing have the holes is connected to a second jump rope handle. The handles freely rotate about the hollow tubes. Children using the jump rope become wet from water spraying from the holes in the jump rope as it is being used.

  • Patent number: 5271692
Abstract: Sheet wave generators have recently been hailed as the new generation of simulated wave generating water rides. The present invention relates to a sheet wave generator with a riding surface appended to a single container of water, i.e., a swimming pool, wave pool, or any existing or new water facility. Because the riding surface of the present invention is contained along its outer periphery, the water ride can be compact so that is suitable for placement in a relatively small area of land. The ride surface itself has an inclined surface, a transition turn area, and a downward declining surface which feeds back into the pool. This butterfly configuration is relatively compact, and can be situated such that the flow of water comes from and returns to the pool area. The invention also has a unique nozzle outlet area which is at or slightly below the elevation of the water surface in the pool, so that riders may skim over the nozzle area and onto the riding surface directly from the pool area.

  • Patent number: 5230678
Abstract: An apparatus constructed to be used as a jump rope which includes a tube which sprays water upon a user jumping in a predetermined area. The apparatus includes a connection to a water source, a rod, a jump rope spray tube and handles rotatably affixed on the rod. The rod joins the ends of the spray tube. The handles slide upon the rod to adjust to the individual user arm span. A swivel member prevents twisting of the connection to a water source. The swivel member includes a release mechanism to permit use of the apparatus as a jump rope.

  • Patent number: 5205670
Abstract: A wave simulator comprises a circular pool containing a volume of water which rotates about a central axis. The pool is rotatably mounted on a truck bed so that transportation of the wave simulator is facilitated. A surf craft is movably attached to a stationary structure so that a surf craft rider may practice the sport of surfing within the simulator.

  • Patent number: 5197923
Abstract: A loading platform for loading and disembarking passengers from floating carriers that includes a circular container filled with water to a predetermined level. A large driven disk rotatably supported at an angle so that the cars can be forced onto a submerged side of the disk and rotated out of the water so that the passengers can be loaded and disembarked from the carriers. The flow of the water through flumes and the disk aids in loading and removing the carriers from the disk.
