Trainer For Foot Travel (e.g., For Walking, Skating, Etc.) Patents (Class 472/15)
  • Patent number: 10653252
Abstract: A child's folding walker with caster wheels that is adjustable in height to permit a child to sit and touch the ground and move the walker. The walker includes four vertical legs, and upper platform that attaches to a suspended seat with leg holes configured to hold a sitting child in a suspended position above the floor. A folding support frame holds the four legs in a fixed position when used as a walker but collapses into a folding configuration for compact storage. In one embodiment, the walker includes four X-shaped leg assemblies that enable the walker to collapse into a compact vertical configuration. In another embodiment, the walker has two X-shaped leg assemblies that enable the walker to collapse into compact horizontal configuration. In a third embodiment, the walker has four vertical legs and two collapsible side frames that enabling the walker to collapse into a vertical configuration.

  • Patent number: 10449107
Abstract: A gait training apparatus includes a wire configured to directly or indirectly pull a trainee's leg fitted with a gait assist device from a position above the trainee's head; a control unit configured to control a motor that applies a pulling force to the wire, thereby adjusting the pulling force; and a housing mechanism configured to retract or release the wire in response to a motion of the leg. The control unit controls the motor such that the pulling force is adjusted to a predetermined pulling force that is independent of the speed, when a speed at which the housing mechanism retracts or releases the wire is within a prescribed range defined in advance and including zero. The control unit controls the motor such that the pulling force is adjusted to a pulling force calculated based on the speed, when the speed is out of the prescribed range.

  • Patent number: 9808668
Abstract: An apparatus for automated walking training includes a frame or treadmill having a driven treadmill belt and a pelvis attachment to support a position and weight of a user. The pelvis attachment includes a displacement unit for allowing a movement of the user's pelvis held by attachment elements transverse to and/or rotating about a perpendicular axis to the walking direction of the treadmill to provide a more natural and physiological gait during training. A weight suspension unit having a cable guided over a guide roller positioned above and attached to the pelvis attachment may include a displacement unit adapted to move the guide roller perpendicular to the diverted section of the cable to influence the transverse position of an upper body of the user as well as to prevent a pendulum effect of the trunk of his body.

  • Patent number: 9662539
Abstract: The proposed apparatus and method relate to restorative sports medicine and patient rehabilitation with neurological motoric disorders. A patient is positioned in equilibrium by suspension devices for patient's body parts. The suspension devices are moved by actuating mechanisms with an electro-pneumatic drive and actuating components, controlled by a programmed computer, motivating the patient by controlling an object in a virtual gaming environment, to restore movements when there is an initially minimal or a complete absence of physical activity. The effectiveness is judged according to the reduction of energy consumption of the drives. The apparatus includes a base composed of two parallel guides with movable crossbars, on which the actuating mechanisms are pairwise movably arranged, monitoring and control units, the computer, sensors detecting the state of the actuating mechanisms, and power sources.

  • Patent number: 6074305
Abstract: An implement to be used as a plaything by children and as training equipment by grownups, includes a hoop of a diameter larger than the height of a person standing on its inside surface and treading forwards with the aim to roll the hoop along a floor surface. A chassis frame is slidingly attached to the two lateral edges of the hoop. The chassis frame supports a front wheel and a steering handle extending towards the hands of the person in the hoop. Treading on the hoop's inside surface propels the hoop along the floor while the front wheel is steered by the user. A hoop sized for adults can be used as a training implement by mounting it in rotatable alignment on a stationary base. The training implement may be configured for use in various positions, either upright, or when sitting and even while laying down.

  • Patent number: 5728030
Abstract: An infant training walker has a base platform, a disk-shaped tread member rotatably supported approximately flush therewith, and a belt-shaped restraint spaced above the platform in eccentric relation to the tread member for laterally restraining an occupant of the walker. Preferably, a seat element having leg openings depends from the restraint, and the restraint is rotatable within a tray having an array of toy elements. Thus the occupant is encouraged to exercise in a variety of angular orientations relative to the tread member. The occupant can walk with both feet on the tread member, and can also keep one foot on the platform while moving the other foot on the tread member. The tray is adjustable in height, being supported from the platform on telescoping legs. A vertically extending seat back attachment can augment a back-supporting portion of the restraint when the walker is used by larger toddlers.
