  • Patent number: 8821302
Abstract: An amusement apparatus includes an elongate member having an upper extremity and a lower extremity with a pivot point. A self-contained child-supporting assembly is mounted to the elongate member between the upper and lower extremities for rotation and includes a seat to receive a child in a sitting position, handles to be taken up by hand by a child seated on the seat, and footrests to provide foot support for a child seated on the seat. A leveraging arm extends from the upper extremity of the elongate member to an outer end having an upright handle. The leveraging arm has a transverse handle between the upper extremity of the elongate member and the upright handle. The transverse and upright handles are available to be taken up by hand to reciprocally pivot the elongate member at the pivot point to impart rotation to the child-supporting assembly about the elongate member.

  • Patent number: 8348775
Abstract: An amusement apparatus includes an elongate member having an upper extremity formed with a leveraging arm and an opposed lower extremity formed with a pivot point. A seat to receive a child in a sitting position is mounted to the elongate member for rotation thereabout between the opposed upper and lower extremities, and a handlebar available to be taken up by hand by a child seated on the seat is mounted to the elongate member for rotation thereabout between the seat and the upper extremity. The leveraging arm extends outwardly from the upper extremity to a handled end positioned above the seat. The elongate leveraging arm is available to be taken up at the handled end to reciprocally pivot the elongate member at the pivot point of the lower extremity of the elongate member to impart rotation to the seat about the elongate member.

  • Patent number: 6976923
Abstract: A first embodiment of carousel device provides a bouncer which cannot be tipped over accidentally. Further, a oscillating circuit enables a battery-operated motor to gently oscillate the bouncer through an 80° arc. A pair of retractable rockers are provided on the bottom of the stationary base to afford the baby additional motion while bouncing. A second embodiment provides a straddlable vehicle which a youngster can peddle, a sound circuit being activated by the pedaling as inducement to continue exercising.

  • Patent number: 5997403
Abstract: A spinning play device for children is disclosed. The spinning play device includes a rotating mechanism mounted to a frame a predetermined distance above a supporting surface and a handhold depending from the rotating mechanism to allow a user to grip the handhold during rotation of the rotating mechanism. The rotating mechanism includes a rotating element that is weight activated by a user's weight. From its lowermost position, the rotating mechanism may be returned to its uppermost position by vertical or linear movement only.

  • Patent number: 5921867
Abstract: A self propelled merry-go-around is provided including a base having a plurality of linear feet and a vertical stanchion fixedly coupled to the feet and extending upwardly therefrom. A pivoting assembly includes at least one arm rotatably coupled to a top end of the vertical stanchion. The arm has an outboard end with a seat and at least one post having a bar coupled to both a top end and a bottom end thereof in perpendicular relationship with the post. A central extent of the post is pivotally coupled to at least one end of the second arm just inward of the corresponding seat. A drive assembly is provided including a drive member with an inverted L-shaped configuration fixedly coupled to a top of the vertical stanchion. At least one interconnect rod has a first end pivotally coupled to the post of the arm of the pivoting assembly and a second end pivotally coupled to an outboard end of the drive member for effecting the rotation of the pivoting assembly.

  • Patent number: 5330390
Abstract: A rider propelled roundabout apparatus includes a stand and a roundabout assembly supported on the stand for rotation about a substantially vertical axis. The assembly is provided with at least one seat for supporting a rider, and a drive bar is supported on the stand for rotation relative to the stand. A roller clutch situated between the stand and the drive bar prevents rotation of the drive bar in a first rotary direction while permitting rotation of the drive bar in a second rotary direction. The rider propels the assembly in the second rotary direction by exerting a force on the drive bar in the first rotary direction. The drive bar is free to rotate with the rider in the second rotary direction so that the rider may continuously hold onto the drive bar and exert additional force on the drive bar in the first rotary direction at any time to further propel the assembly.
