  • Patent number: 6692392
Abstract: A lagging system for conveyor belt pulleys is provided that allows for significant flexibility in attaching lagging members to the face of the pulleys while also providing improved distribution of the lagging material on the pulley face, and doing this while avoiding the creation of unduly long and circumferentially wide gaps between adjacent lagging members attached on the pulley. The lagging system can include lagging strips having non-linear leading/trailing edges thereof to allow adjacent strips to be attached without the undesired gaps formed therebetween. Preferably, the strips have projecting portions with fitment spaces defined therebetween with the projecting portions being offset on either side of the strip axis so that portions from one strip can be interfit in fitment spaces of an adjacent strip with lagging material or tiles thereon overlapping the lagging material or tiles on the projecting portions of the adjacent strip in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 6419208
Abstract: In an elevator sheave for a flat belt, the optimum crown height is within a range of approximately 0.033 to about 0.003 times the width of the elevator rope. The optimum radius is in the range of about 16.67 to about 50.00 times the width of the elevator rope. Both the crown height (h) and the crown radius (rc) may be expressed as a function of belt width (Wb). The groove width (wg) is in the range of approximately 1.5 and 2.25 times the width of the belt (Wb). A circumferential surface roughness of about 1.0 to 3.0 is applied. A hard, thin surface coating can be applied to enhance durability while maintaining traction.

  • Patent number: 5244435
Abstract: A cylindrical pulley over which a belt or web is looped is composed of a series of flat, annular discs, each of which rotates about its own individual axis, all discs closely adjacent to its neighbors so that the aggregate of discs forms the cylindrical pulley. All rotating disc axes are parallel and all are inclined at a chosen angle to the aggregate pulley axis creating a belt contact surface that moves laterally as well as peripherally. All discs revolve about bearing carriers that are rotated together in outboard bearings to change the orientation of the angled discs with respect to the traveling belt. Thus a belt wrapped about the pulley can be made to move in a direction perpendicular to its travel direction at a rate defined by the degree to which the individual discs deviate from the aggregate pulley axis. More importantly the belt can be made to reverse its direction of lateral travel by opposite positioning of the disc carrier group for which purpose several operating means are shown.

The belt has spaced opening for receiving the segments, which tangentially displace in case of misalignment of the segments to the belt openings. • Patent number: 4527470
Abstract: An improved pulley system for use with band printers or the like. A steel printing band is looped around a pair of capstans covered by sleeves made of elastomeric material. The sleeves include a plurality of downwardly angled flexible circumferential flanges and a lower horizontal rim. The band contacts the flanges and as the capstans rotate, inward force on the band is transferred to a downward force by means of the flanges. The downward force causes the band to move into contact with the lower horizontal rim, thereby vertically aligning the band in the printer. In an alternate embodiment, a plurality of non-flexible circumferential ridges are included. The central ridges extend farther out from the surface of the sleeve and serve to define a crown. The sleeve configuration serves to reduce wear and accurately align the printing band within the printer assembly.
