And Plural, Inwardly Facing Drive Surfaces Along The Direction Parallel To Longitudinal Extent Of Belt Patents (Class 474/247)
  • Patent number: 7931554
Abstract: A flexible endless belt includes cords extending generally lengthwise of the belt in multiple turns. An Outer end of each cord may be located in a position that is not substantially laterally outward of other portion of the laterally outermost turn of the cord so as to prevent fraying of the cord at the outer end. When the belt is received on roller in a baler, the outer ends of the cords lead at least a part of respective transition portions. A carcass for the belt may have a first cord wound in a Z-direction along the length of the belt and comprising at least two threads wound in the Z-direction and a second cord wound in an S-direction along the length of the belt and comprising at least two threads wound in the S-direction.

Abstract: A drive chain suitable for use in a continuously variable transmission of a motor vehicle, the transmission having two pairs of spaced drive members about which the chain passes to transfer torque from one drive member to the other. The chain includes a plurality of link elements that include spaced, side-by-side plate links. The plate links include openings in which pairs of parallel rocker members are disposed for relative rocking movement of at least one rocker member about its longitudinal axis. A method for stretching the chain is also disclosed, in which areas of some of the plate links are plastically deformed by stretching the chain before the chain is put to use.

  • Publication number: 20040033856
Abstract: An on-machine-seamable industrial belt comprising a coated spiral base with a pin seam that offers easy installation, durability, high surface friction, and strength. The belt construction includes a helical spiral base produced from primarily polyester monofilament or blends thereof. The coating material is a liquid silicone rubber elastomer of Shore A durometer 15-50. The coating penetration encapsulates at least the top spiral filament and extends beyond the top surface of the base. The seam strength is substantially equal to that of the fabric body.

  • Patent number: 5704862
Abstract: This invention relates to dual-sided multi-ribbed power transmission belts having a plurality of longitudinally extending, transversely spaced alternating ribs and grooves with the ribs having a distance between their midpoints of a pitch P on both sides of the belt. The grooves on opposite sides of the belt are transversely offset from each by a distance of P/2.

  • Patent number: 5382198
Abstract: A multi-ribbed power transmission belt having transverse grooves in the compression section which are oriented other than perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the belt such that any transverse grooves in immediately adjacent longitudinal ribs are offset from each other in the longitudinal direction by a distance of from 10% to 50% of the longitudinal spacing of the grooves.

  • Patent number: 5318485
Abstract: A power transmission (10) chain-belt (32) is disclosed that is especially adaptable for connecting the pulleys or sheaves (12, 14) of a pulley transmission (10). The chain-belt (32) has a plurality of interleaved sets (34) of transversely arranged links (36). Pivot means (40) joined interleaved sets (34) of links (36) to form an endless loop. At least one toe (42a, 42b) extends from each link (36) in at least some sets (34) of links (36). The toes (42a, 42b) are in opposed relationship and define a passageway (80). A plurality of struts (50) are connected to the links (36) and are positioned in the passageway (80). Each strut (50) has edge surfaces (88) for contacting the pulleys (12, 14) of the transmission (10). Each strut further includes at least one notch (52) proximate the centerline of the strut (50). Retaining links (90 ) are supported by the pivot means (40) for engaging the notch (52) and limiting the lateral motion of the strut (50) with respect to the set (34) of links (36).

  • Patent number: 5299984
Abstract: A frictional transmission chain drive for use between V-groove pulleys comprises a series of C-shaped chain struts and friction force struts superposed along the length of an endless transmission chain. The chain struts are fitted in grooves located across link plates of the chain, with their open ends alternately located on opposite sides of the transmission chain. The friction force struts are provided with recesses which grip the chain to prevent sideways movement of the struts relative to the chain. The friction force struts on opposite sides of a chain strut can have their open ends on the same said of the chain as the open end of the chain strut, or, alternatively, can have their open ends on the side of the chain opposite the side on which the open end of the chain strut is located.
