Patent number: 11501566Abstract: Various embodiments of a facial recognition system are provided. In one embodiment, a processor determines a value for a lighting parameter associated with a captured facial image, determines whether any previously obtained images in a biometric database includes a similar value for the lighting parameter and, if not, stores the newly captured image in the database along with the lighting parameter value. In another embodiment, the processor calculates a score indicative of the likelihood that the face in the captured facial image is identical to the face of a previously obtained image in the database, determines whether the score exceeds a threshold value and, if so, generates a signal indicating a match. The processor adjusts the threshold based on one or more parameter values.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2020Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: NEC Corporation of AmericaInventors: Krishna Ranganath, Allen Ganz, Alvin Leong Ying Yap, Ashlee Phillips, Michael Molinari, Algernon Callier

Patent number: 11154163Abstract: A micro puree machine including a housing, a power shaft, a bowl assembly and a platform. The power shaft extends from the housing. The bowl assembly including at least one locking bowl element. The platform includes at least one complementary locking platform element that is configured to engage the at least one locking bowl element such that rotation of the bowl assembly relative to the platform is prevented at times the bowl assembly is positioned thereon. The platform is rotatable from a first position to a second position relative to the housing such that the platform raises the bowl assembly towards the power shaft during the rotation of the bowl assembly and platform. The raising of the bowl assembly facilitates connection between the power shaft and a blade assembly that is positioned in a lid assembly on the bowl assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2020Date of Patent: October 26, 2021Assignee: SharkNinja Operating LLCInventors: Pushan He, Ting Hua Zhang, Ping Chu

Patent number: 10221925Abstract: A conical pulley for belt Continuously-Variable-Transmissions allowing a bigger than the width W of the belt maximum axial displacement of the one conical pulley half relative to the other, achieving a bigger than 0.5*W*tan(F) difference between the maximum and the minimum effective radiuses of the belt as it runs on the pulley, wherein F is the angle of the working conical surfaces of the pulley, providing a substantial increase of the transmission gear ratio range that enables faster accelerations at the low gear ratios and better mileage and quieter operation at the high gear ratios.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2017Date of Patent: March 5, 2019Inventors: Manousos Pattakos, Efthimios Pattakos, Emmanouel Pattakos

Patent number: 9175755Abstract: A mechanism for transmitting rotational power comprising: a link extending along a closed loop and continued by a succession of portions each having a longitudinal direction tangent to the closed loop; and temporary unification means comprising a plurality of self-locking means distributed at least along an active portion of a first drive circle, and comprising at least one rigid locking element simultaneously pressing against a first support surface of the first rotating element and a second support surface of a link portion facing the locking element. The first and second support surfaces are arranged so that one locking element of the first drive circle active portion is jammed between the support surfaces and is capable of self-unlocking when the corresponding self-locking means leaves the active portion. One of the support surfaces is a tangential gripping surface that is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the link portion against which the locking element presses.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2012Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Inventors: Cyril Clopet, Pierre Alain Azzopardi, Vincent Revol

Patent number: 8958961Abstract: A CVT transmission comprising a shaft journalled to a housing, a first sheave fixed to the shaft, a second sheave moveable parallel to an axis of rotation of the shaft, the second sheave locked in rotating relation with the first sheave by a first sheave member cooperatively engaged with a second sheave receiving member, the second sheave receiving member disposed at a helical angle (HA) with respect to the axis of rotation, a sprocket journalled to the housing, the sprocket threadably engaged with a movable member, a bearing disposed between the movable member and the second sheave, the movable member engaged with the housing whereby movement of the movable member is parallel with the axis of rotation, an electric actuator engaged with the sprocket, and the second sheave is axially movable upon a rotation of the sprocket.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2012Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: The Gates CorporationInventor: Andrzej Dec

Patent number: 7699728Abstract: A variable speed transmission of the continuously variable type. The transmission includes an input pulley having primary and secondary sheaves and an output pulley having primary and secondary sheaves. The primary and secondary sheaves of the input pulley are mounted on a first axle shaft carried by an actuator plate and the primary and secondary sheaves of the output pulley are carried on a second axle shaft carried by the actuator plate. The input shaft of the transmission carries pin mounted roller bearings which are received in skewed slots in an actuator sleeve so that the actuator sleeve is moved axially along the input shaft in response to variations in torque loading. The actuator plate is annular and includes a central circumferential groove receiving pin mounted roller bearings carried by the actuator sleeve so that the actuator plate, and the axle shafts carried thereby, undergoes the same axial movement as the actuator sleeve in response to variations in torque loading.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2005Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: Altair Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Michael Pritchett

Publication number: 20030004022Abstract: A continuously variable transmission has dual driving connections extending between a first shaft and a second shaft. The driving connections generally include a drive pulley, a driven pulley and a belt. The pulleys each comprise a fixed portion and an axially moveable portion. Movement between the two portions changes an effective diameter of the pulley. The moveable portions of the drive pulley are positioned next to one another on the first shaft and the moveable portions are interposed between the fixed portions of the drive pulleys. The fixed portions of the driven pulleys, on the other hand, are interposed between the moveable portions. The driven pulleys are free to rotate relative to the second shaft. A differential is positioned between the fixed portions of the driven pulleys, connects the two fixed portions and transfers the torque from the driven pulleys to the second shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2002Publication date: January 2, 2003Inventor: Albert W.
