  • Patent number: 4781659
Abstract: A torsional vibration damper with a V-belt pulley unit (Front power take-off) attached to the primary part of the damper. In order to increase the service life of the damper and to improve the level of loading in the front PTO, the V-belt pulley is mounted radially and axially on a support element that is connected to the primary part of the damper. A specially designed coupling element, which contains an elastomer that has a high degree of torsional elasticity, is used in conjunction with the axial bearing. In this way, a supercritical adjustment is attained for the vibration system of the PTO, the vibration damper itself being used only for damping the torsional vibrations of the engine crankshaft.

  • Patent number: 4741676
Abstract: A hydraulic pump is mounted on a bracket which, in turn, is mounted on a frame secured to a marine engine. The mounting of the frame on the engine allows for substantially universal swiveling and translation adjustment to position a rearward-projecting stub shaft of the frame stationarily and in coaxial alignment with the forward-projecting front end portion of the engine crankshaft. A cogwheel or pulley is rotatably mounted on the stub shaft and is joined to the engine crankshaft by a flexible coupling. Such cogwheel or pulley drives a belt which powers the driven input wheel or pulley of the pump. The substantial tension of the belt is applied to the stub shaft of the frame without transmission to the engine crankshaft, and the coupling of the pump to the engine is not effected by vibration, twisting or fore-and-aft surging of the engine in response to developed torque and thrust.

  • Patent number: 4585431
Abstract: A sprocket assembly is disclosed for use as a drive or idler wheel for the endless tracks of a track type vehicle. Included is an inner rim rigidly and concentrically mounted to a hub and having a series of studs projecting radially outwardly therefrom at constant circumferential spacings. Each stud has fitted thereon a universal shock absorber having two or more concentric tubes of rigid material with a preloaded elastic member or members engaged therebetween. Disposed concentrically outwardly of the studded inner rim is an outer rim having a series of sprocket teeth formed on its circumference and defining an annular row of radial, inwardly open cavities to closely receive the respective shock absorbers on the studs of the inner rim. The shock absorbers damp the forces exerted between the inner and outer rims in all of the axial, radial, and rotational directions of the sprocket assembly.

  • Patent number: 4518372
Abstract: A pulley device having a bearing of precise dimensional tolerance (precision ground) supported in a sheave of less precise tolerance including a ball or roller bearing with an inner and an outer race, and an elastic ring supported by the outer race. The pulley device additionally includes a two piece sheave enclosing the outer race and the ring effective to place the ring under a compressive load whereby the main body of radial load on the pulley is transmitted to the bearing through the ring, resulting in the ring being compressed around the outer surface of the bearing assuring a firm, reliable grip on the bearing, and while the sheaves are in contact with the end portion of the outer race of the bearing to maintain proper roundness of the bearing as precision ground.

  • Patent number: 4486183
Abstract: A shock-absorbing torsionally elastic power transmitting device is described having resilient cushioning means loaded with modulus-increasing fibrous reinforcement, adapted to be interposed between mating lugs of a hub and rim configured to accommodate high torque levels simultaneously with relatively large angular deflections. The fibrous reinforcement is preferably aligned in the principal direction of displacement of the cushions under load. In another aspect, a torsionally elastic power transmitting device is used with V- or V-ribbed belt friction drive sheaves subject to slippage, to absorb torsional shocks and minimize heat build-up.

  • Patent number: 4443209
Abstract: An improved amusement or game device of the type which has one or more indicia-bearing rotatable reels which are rotated upon initiation of play by a player is disclosed. The game device has an improved main drive mechanism which permits the player to vary the initial rotational speed of the reels in direct proportion to the speed in which an associated operating handle is pulled. A supplemental drive mechanism is included for increasing the speed of the reels if the player fails to pull the operating handle with sufficient force to rotate the reels at a predetermined minimum speed. The device also includes an improved indexing means for stopping the reels in accordance with the operation of the game device. The game device also includes means for absorbing excessing energy that may be provided by a player pulling the operating handle with extraordinary speed or force.

  • Patent number: 4393727
Abstract: A motor-tachometer rotates a drive shaft rotatably supported on an upper support member that is fixedly secured to a lower support member. The drive shaft in turn rotates a compliant rotary member of larger diameter fixedly secured to a driven shaft for rotation therewith. This compliant rotary member is provided with a circular central portion and an annular outer portion coupled together by three springs symmetrically disposed around the periphery of the central portion, and is loaded against the drive shaft so that the annular outer portion is eccentrically offset relative to the circular central portion in a radial direction opposite the drive shaft. The driven shaft is rotatably supported by the lower support member in engagement with a drive bar for moving a stage on which the upper and lower support members are mounted along the drive bar.
