Bell And Tank Patents (Class 48/176)
  • Patent number: 11971138
Abstract: The present invention is a pressure tank comprising a tubular part and two bottoms (5) with the bottoms (5) positioned at the ends of the tubular part. The tubular part comprises a cylindrical wall (1) and a ply of circumferential reinforcing elements (2) wound around cylindrical wall (1). The elastic modulus of the material of cylindrical wall (1) is less than the elastic modulus of the material of the first ply of circumferential reinforcing elements (2). The invention also relates to an energy storage and recovery system comprising a compressor, an expansion device, a heat storage and a compressed air tank according to the aforementioned characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4714175
Abstract: A storage tank for liquids is provided with a vertically movable horizontal deck which separates a liquid above the deck from a liquid below the deck. The deck and tank have line and pulley mechanisms to prevent the deck from skewing or tilting during vertical displacement. The liquid above the deck can be the same or different than the liquid below the deck but generally they have different densities so that the deck can float at the interface between the liquids.

  • Patent number: 4369044
Abstract: In a dry seal gasholder cylindrical storage tank with a vertically-movable piston, an improved piston leveling system includes a vertically-movable weight outside the tank and connected by equal-length cables to spaced-apart support points on the piston at different distances from the weight. An array of guide sheaves on the tank define equal-length cable paths. The cables are pivotally coupled to spaced-apart points on a coupling plate to which a pair of attachment plates on the weight are also pivotally connected. Apertures in the attachment plates and the coupling plate are disposable in registry with one another for receiving a pin therethrough when the cable attachment points are in horizontal alignment, thereby to indicate equal tension in the cables.

  • Patent number: 4202458
Abstract: A cylindrical, open top, collapsible container is loosely fitted inside the tank. The bottom of this container floats on the liquid and its lateral surface folds or unfolds upon the rise or fall in the liquid level. The annular gap between the container and the tank's shell is connected to a bladder. The bladder is expanded or contracted in the required amounts by mechanical linkages between the floating bottom and said bladder.

  • Patent number: 4163505
Abstract: A polyhedrical shaped liner, mounted vertically inside a cylindrical storage tank, is fixed to the inner top of the tank. The lower portion of the liner is fixed to a rigid frame which is free to displace in the vertical direction.Means, located on equidistant horizontal narrow strips of the liner, restrain the strips from displacing radially inwards but allow them to move in the vertical direction.Means, that apply forces directed vertically upwards over the rigid frame and of sufficient magnitude to produce critical compressive stresses in the liner, are provided. These critical compressive stresses induce buckling of the portions of the liner comprised between successive narrow strips and folding of the liner in-situ is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4132532
Abstract: An expansible dry seal gasholder includes a piston disposed within a container side wall and a plurality of generally annular fender structures disposed between the piston and the side wall and spaced therefrom and from each other, with flexible fabric sealing members interconnecting the piston and the fender structures and the side wall and closing the spaces therebetween. Respectively pivotally mounted between the arms of a clevis at the top of each fender structure are generally L-shaped latch members, each having one end thereof connected by a roller chain to the upper end of the next innermost fender structure, with the latch member of the innermost fender structure being connected to the upper end of the piston. The clevis brackets are adjustable effectively to vary the lengths of the chains.

  • Patent number: 4022697
Abstract: An apparatus for separating solids from liquids by sedimentation includes a covered tank in which a sediment-engaging raking structure is journaled for rotation about a central support pier. The raking structure is driven by a unit which travels about the periphery of the tank outside the enclosure. A gas-tight seal is effected between the tank, the cover and the drive unit by the combination of an annular liquid-holding launder which is fixedly supported to surround the interior of the tank, a rigid U-shaped member which connects the drive unit to the raking structure with its lower portion submerged in the liquid held in the launder, and a continuous baffle-like wall extending from the tank cover downwardly into the space bounded by the submerged portion of the U-shaped member.
