  • Patent number: 5749172
Abstract: The subject assembly is intended for use in selectively closing in balconies and is made up of an upper guide, a lower guide and several panel subassemblies. The upper guide is attached to the ceiling of the balcony and the lower guide to the floor or top of the railing. Each panel subassembly is made up of a rectangular glass panel, an upper fitting attached to its upper edge, and a lower fitting attached to its lower edge. One guide fitting and one pivoted guide fitting assembly are attached to the upper fitting and two guide fitting assemblies, one pivoted, are attached to the lower fitting. The guide fitting and fitting assemblies slide in the guides. The pivoted guide fitting assemblies allow the subassemblies to pivot about an axis near one vertical edge. A roller is attached to each guide fitting assembly on the lower fitting and the rollers carry the weight of the panel subassemblies. One panel subassembly is permanently positioned at the retracted end of the guides.

  • Patent number: 5577348
Abstract: A mobile partition wall includes several wall elements (1, 1') that are each suspended from a track (2) secured to the ceiling of a room. Each wall element is provided with coupling valves (30, 32) which pneumatically interconnect the wall elements to allow the continuous throughflow of compressed air. The compressed air actuates pneumatic stroke devices to press respective seal bars (8, 9) against the ceiling and the floor in order to achieve good noise insulation and stability of the wall elements. The terminal wall element (1') includes a laterally extendable sliding termination panel (70) that is connected to a pneumatic drive device for extending the termination panel from the wall element (1'). In this manner, any vertical gap remaining between the terminal wall element and a wall of the room can be simply close and sealed by the termination panel. Pneumatic valves are arranged to control the pressurization sequence of the pneumatic elements.

  • Patent number: 5471791
Abstract: A mobile partition wall includes a plurality of adjoining wall elements 1. In order to prop and stabilize each wall element 1 between the ceiling and the floor and to provide noise insulation, each wall element includes an upper seal bar 8 and a lower seal bar 9. The seal bars 8, 9 cooperate with a pneumatic stroke or force device 20 via a linkage 16, 16'. The stroke device 20 preferably includes a pneumatic bellows. A pneumatic coupling is arranged on each of the two narrow vertical edges of each wall element 1. When adjacent wall elements are pushed against one another, the respective adjacent couplings engage or couple with one another, whereby a non-return or poppet-type valve is opened to allow the flow of pressurized air. The pressurized air actuates the stroke device 20, which extends the seal bars 8, 9 outwardly to press against the upper support track and the floor.

  • Patent number: 5230123
Abstract: A system of movable panels supported from overhead tracks by carriers engaged in the tracks. The panels are movable between a storage area and operable positions by moving the carriers along the tracks. The tracks are provided with an arrangement of bars which are selectively positioned at the junction between angularly related track sections. These bars, in cooperation with a preselected portion or portions of the carriers, permit only certain panels to move from one track section into another and blocking the entry of others. In addition, an arrangement of diverters are selectively positioned in the track sections in the area of the junction between track sections. These diverters, in cooperation with a preselected portion, or portions, of the carriers prevent certain panels from continuing along a given track section and divert those panels into an adjacent, angularly related track section.

  • Patent number: 5088236
Abstract: The invention relates to a pivotable glazing for a balcony. There are previously known balcony glazings which comprise four or more panes which move in an overlapping manner on two adjacent tracks. Such a structure requires considerable sealing and frame structures which detract from the outer appearance of the building. Furthermore, the balcony aperture can be opened at maximum 50%, and it is difficult to wash the outer surfaces of the panes. According to the present invention, these disadvantages are eliminated by fitting all the panes of glass adjacently in the same double-rail track. At the upper edge of each movable glass pane (1) there are two slides (3, 4), of which one moves on a straight outer rail and the other on an inner rail, which curves inwards and towards the side wall (13) of the balcony. Within the curved portion (18) of the inner rail the trailing edge of the pane turns inwards and the pane can be opened against the side wall (13) of the balcony.
