  • Patent number: 5979971
Abstract: A device for holding a vehicle sliding door at full-open position comprises a striker fixed to a vehicle body and a latch rotatably mounted on the sliding door. The latch has a U-shaped groove for engaging with the striker when the sliding door is fully opened. The latch is displaceable between a first position in which the U-shaped groove is disengaged with the striker and second position in which the U-shaped groove is engaged with the striker. A resilient member is disposed at a location between the latch and the sliding door for holding the latch in either one of the first position and the second position by resilient force thereof. The resilient member is always in contact with the latch directly.

Abstract: The apparatus enables a door to be moved into, out of and across an opening in a structure. A motor vehicle has upper, lower and intermediate guides 1, 7, 12 by which a door 6 is suspended and guided for movement by way of guide members 5', 8, 15 engaged with the guides. Curves 1', 7' at the front of guides 1, 7 guide the door into the opening. A door plate 14 and arm 16 constitute a hinge and the arm 12 is pivoted to the intermediate guide member 15. When the door is in the opening the arm 16 prevents downward pivoting of a carrier 19 on the intermediate guide member 15 whereby a roller 21 on the carrier is engaged with an abutment end 22 of the intermediate guide 12, preventing the intermediate guide member 15 engaged with it from sliding rearwardly along that guide 12. • Patent number: 4560197
Abstract: For the purpose of preventing a vehicle sliding door from falling off, a stopper member is fixedly secured to the vehicle body and a coacting surface is provided on a bracket mounted on the vehicle door. As guide rollers of the vehicle sliding door tilt under an external force applied to the vehicle door, the stopper member engages with the coacting surface and prevents the rollers from derailment. Since the stopper member extends laterally, it is effective for preventing the sliding door from falling off even when the sliding door is deformed.

  • Patent number: 4503638
Abstract: A suspension device for a door leaf of a swing out sliding door of a vehicle comprising a horizontal, fixed suspending member, a frame movable along the fixed suspending member and a swing arm connected to the frame for movement therewith. The swing arm is pivotably connected to the frame by a first hinge and the door leaf is connected by a second hinge to the swing arm. A roller is connected to the swing arm and is rollably supported in a fixed rail and a guide arm pivotably connected to the door leaf carries a third hinge pivotably connecting the guide arm to the frame. The fixed rail includes a curved end portion which controls movement of the roller to cause the door leaf to displace radially as the roller travels to and from the curved end portion.

Abstract: For the purpose of holding a slide door of a vehicle at its fully opened position, a catch lever is provided on a bracket which is pivotally mounted on the slide door and a stopper means is additionally provided on the bracket to prevent the excessive pivoting of the catch lever. Because of the pivotable mounting of the bracket and the provision of the stopper means, the catch lever is prevented from being interfered by a curved portion of the guide rail guiding the sliding motion of the slide door for smooth opening and closing of the door and the device is free from any pronounced protrusion on the part of both the door and the guide rail.

Abstract: A track and latch assembly for a slidable door is disclosed. The track and latch assembly is operative in combination with a slidable door of the type which is slidably supported adjacent the upper end thereof from a wall so that the door is slidable along the surface of the wall for movement between open and closed positions, but so that the door is slightly outwardly pivotable about an axis adjacent the upper end thereof for movement of the lower portion of the door outwardly slightly with respect to the wall. The track and latch assembly includes a track which is mounted in fixed relation with respect to the wall adjacent the lower end of the door and a latch assembly which is mounted on the door.
