  • Patent number: 4561211
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a vehicle door and window assembly in which the door has a pair of spaced, arcuate sheet metal guide rails and the window adjacent its side edges is secured to a pair of plastic guides which are slidable on the rails for movement through a path of a given radius and with the guides maintaining the windows substantially flush with the adjacent side door structure. The plastic guides have a transverse dimension, as measured between the rails and the outer window surface, which progressively increases proceeding from their upper ends toward their lower ends so that the window has a radius which is greater than the radius of its path of movement whereby the window is moved away from its outer belt line seal when lowered into the door and whereby the window moves both upwardly and outwardly as it is being raised so that it is also substantially flush with the outer belt line of the door when in its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4503639
Abstract: This invention relates to a guidance system for window panes in vehicles, comprising three points of guidance only, one of the points of guidance coinciding with the lifting mechanism. As the pane may be rotated about each one of these points of guidance, the system avoids the occurrance of bending stresses, and a function-related maximum number of degrees of freedom at each point of guidance obviates redundancy, thus providing a smooth and precise guidance of the pane.

  • Patent number: 4357781
Abstract: A rear side door structure for four-door type automobiles including a rear door panel having an upper hem which defines a lower edge of a window opening, a guide member extending upwardly from the upper hem of the door panel to divide the window opening into a front opening portion and rear opening portion, a front glass panel fitted to the front opening portion, a rear glass panel disposed in the rear opening portion for movement along the guide member. The guide member is inclined rearwardly so that the rear glass panel is shifted forwardly when it is moved downwardly. According to this arrangement, the rear glass panel can be retracted into the door panel without any interference with the cut-off portion which is normally provided in the door panel at the rear lower portion for avoiding the rear tire house.

  • Patent number: 4221079
Abstract: A window lifting arrangement for an automotive vehicle and the like includes a support which defines the axes x, y, z of a system of rectangular coordinates. A window pane is mounted for movement relative to the support, the movement having a principal component in the direction of the y-axis, the pane and its direction of movement being arcuate about an axis of curvature transverse to the y-axis. A guide rail elongated in the direction of the z-axis is secured to the pane. An operating arm is mounted on the support for angular movement about a pivot axis and has a free end drivingly connected to the guide rail for movement of the free end longitudinally of the guide rail. The pivot axis is inclined relative to the plane defined by the y- and x-axes at a small acute angle, and preferably relative to a plane defined by the x- and y-axes at another small acute angle.

  • Patent number: 4106353
Abstract: A device for moving a curved plate bent in a substantially arcuate-shape along a curved path, in which a lift arm pivotably supported on a pivot is operatively connected at one end thereof to a lift arm bracket having a bent end portion in such a relationship that the extension line of the bent end portion of the lift arm bracket makes an acute angle with the axis of the pivot supporting the lift arm. Due to the fact that the lift arm is connected to the bent end portion of the lift arm bracket by means of a guide pin which is guided in a predetermined direction along a slot provided in the bent end portion of the lift arm bracket and the extension line of the bent end portion of the lift arm bracket makes the acute angle, namely an angle less than 90.degree.
