  • Patent number: 9376850
Abstract: An opening/closing assist device includes a cam fixed to a first member, which is one of an opening/closing body and a coupling subject of the opening/closing body, a contact element located on a second member, which is the other one of the opening/closing body and the coupling subject, and a damper stay. The damper stay includes a first end rotatably connected to the first member and a second end rotatably connected to the contact element. The contact element is maintained in the state of being pressed against the cam by means of the elastic force of the damper stay. The cam has a shape that is set so that a moment generated at the cam based on the elastic force applied by the contact element is generated so that a moment required to rotate the opening/closing body is in accordance with operation characteristics required for the opening/closing body.

Abstract: A door operator for selectively opening and closing a side hinge door. The door operator may include a motor with a drive shaft, an operator arm assembly, a door position sensor, and a controller. The operator arm assembly may include an output shaft operatively coupled to the drive shaft, an operator arm, and a clutch assembly mounted to the output shaft. The door position sensor, which may be electro-magnetic, signals the controller when the door is not closed. If the door has been manually pushed open, the controller signals the motor to rotate the drive shaft in the closing direction. In automatic mode, the output shaft and the operator arm are operatively engaged, but manual force to open the door overcomes static friction between the operator arm and friction discs in the clutch assembly, operatively disengaging the operator arm and output shaft until the manual force is removed.

  • Patent number: 5353660
Abstract: The invention pertains to a locking mechanism consisting of a guide lever arm (1) and a sliding lever arm (5), in which one end of each of the lever arm pivots about a bearing (10, 11) at a certain distance from the other lever arm, in which the other end of the sliding lever arm (5).is slidingly coupled with a slot (4) in the other end of the guide lever arm (1) by a pin (7) connected with the sliding lever arm (5), and in which the lever arms can be swiveled into two end positions. A force (2) exerted on the guide lever arm (1) in one of the end positions for the purpose of swiveling the guide lever arm (1) into the other end position is compensated in a selflocking way in the slot (4) by a recess in the area of the other end of the guide lever arm (1), and this locking effect can be removed only by a force (6) exerted on the sliding lever arm (5) in the direction of the other end position.

  • Patent number: 4429494
Abstract: In a window, especially for installation in an inclined roof, a secondary frame element or sash is connected with the stationary main frame of the window in a top hinge and is urged in its opening direction by a lifting lever hinged at its one end through a pivot pin to a side member of the secondary frame element or the main frame, while its other end is pivotally and displaceably connected with the adjacent member of the main frame or the secondary frame element, respectively, said lever being biassed by a spring tending to displace said other end in a direction corresponding to opening the window. The said other end of the lever is provided with several pins which during the opening or closing movement of the window successively become operative as the pivot point, thereby giving the lever a varying effective length, whereby the curve of the spring balancing moment performed on the frame element may be optimized and, if desired, a series of stable positions of rest for the tilting frame may be obtained.
