Latch Release Of Movement-stored Energy Patents (Class 49/379)
  • Patent number: 11739580
Abstract: A hinge arrangement having a first hinge part and having a second hinge part, which are connected to one another such that they can pivot, a first hinge pin being formed on the first hinge part, on which a first hinge sleeve is pivotably mounted, which forms a first sliding bearing with the first hinge pin, a dimensionally stable support part being connected to the first hinge sleeve. A first axial protrusion is formed on a first axial end face of the first hinge pin, which engages in an arcuate first groove of the first hinge sleeve, wherein a circumferential first side wall of the first groove together with the first axial end face and an inner side of an end cover fixed at the end of the first hinge sleeve delimits a working space which is filled with a damping fluid for damping a relative movement of the first axial protrusion with respect to the first groove.

  • Patent number: 9003707
Abstract: A positioning element permits the panel or engine bonnet of a motor vehicle to be brought from the closed position into a position in which a gap forms between the upper edge of the opening and the lower edge of the panel. The panel can thus easily be unlocked and fully opened. The positioning element with inner lever and outer lever is connected to a drive component, which via the drive element and the drive pawl with a detent ensures that the panel is brought in a simple manner via the levers into the first raised position, for which purpose the detent is pushed into the recess of the outer lever and thus brings the outer lever and the inner lever into the first raised position. Once the panel has been brought by spring loading into the second raised position with the aid of the spring-loaded inner lever, the upward travel is completed, so that by means of the spring force associated with the outer lever, said outer lever then quickly pivots both levers back into the initial position.

When opening the doors, the lower door (13) is nested inside the upper door (14) guided by pivots (14a), (13a), the sliding guide (14b), and the sliding pin (13b), whereby the amount of the projection of the doors when open corresponds to the projection only of the upper door (14).

Abstract: An improved access lid assembly is provided for a subsurface chamber used to service aircraft. A lift assembly is provided for elevating the lid upwardly from an opening in a surrounding mounting frame disposed atop the subsurface chamber while maintaining the lid in a horizontal disposition. A hinge assembly connects the lift assembly to the lid at a peripheral location thereon on the underside of the lid, without any connection to the peripheral edge of the lid. The hinge assembly allows the lid to rotate about a horizontal axis to an open position through an arc of at least ninety degrees. By avoiding any connection to the peripheral edges of the lid, an elastomeric, annular seal can be mounted to completely encircle the lid and provide a water-tight barrier about the access opening. The seal is mounted between the upper and lower surfaces of the lid within a groove, preferably with a dovetail connection, to securely grip and hold the seal upon the edge of the lid.

Abstract: Racks (20) supported on a transfer cart (38) in a decontamination area (18) are loaded with contaminated articles. The carts are wheeled to a washer (14) into which the racks of contaminated articles are placed for washing. After washing, the racks are removed from the washer in a preparation and packing or clean room (12) and unloaded. The empty racks are moved through a rack return (28) back to the decontamination area. The rack return includes a rack supporting surface (32) on which glide strips (42) are mounted for sliding the racks from the clean room to the decontamination area. Guide strips (44) guide the racks to a pair of vertically pivoted polycarbonate doors (34) which the racks push open by engaging bumpers (58). After the rack has passed through the doors, a self-closure mechanism (60) closes the doors automatically. The rack return assembly includes stops (76, 78) on both sides for aligning a rack carrying cart of any of a plurality of sizes accurately with the rack return assembly.

  • Patent number: 5600921
Abstract: A fiberglass, insulated bulkhead door assembly overcomes the limitations of conventional wooden and metallic storm doors. A preassembled bulkhead door assembly is positioned atop a preexisting concrete foundation. Once in place, the bulkhead forms a liquid tight barrier. As an insulated, lockable structure, the bulkhead door assembly provides a means of ingress into and egress out of a basement of a dwelling structure. The base support and door of the bulkhead door assembly incorporate an insulative layer sandwiched between a pair of molded fiberglass panels, which are then covered by a durable gel coat finish. The combination of insulation and fiberglass maintains an effective thermal barrier between the basement of the dwelling structure and an exterior environment. A pair of pneumatic struts counterbalance the door into an upright position.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for mounting a chamber door between open and closed positions relative to the opening of a sterilizer or autoclave chamber. The apparatus is adapted to be used in either motorized or non-motorized embodiments. The weight of the chamber door is offset by a counterweight and suspended using a cable and pulley system. In the non-motorized embodiment, the door/counterweight system is held in place by a securement, which, when disengaged, permits free motion of the door. In the motorized embodiment, a second cable and pulley system is used to connect the door and counterweight. The cable from this second system is looped around a sheave which is adapted to provide a predetermined frictional force. The sheave is then connected to and rotated by a motor, and upon activation of the motor, the rotating sheave displaces the cable, which respectively raises or lowers the door and counterweight.

  • Patent number: 5465862
Abstract: A closure apparatus for a subsurface pit for servicing an aircraft located beneath an aircraft servicing surface across which aircraft travel is provided with an improved spring biasing arrangement. The system employs separate springs interposed between the hollow body of the pit and the lid so as to urge the pit lid from its horizontal seated position toward a fully raised position. Obstructions are provided for separately intercepting and disengaging the springs from acting against the pit lid as the pit lid is opened through intermediate angular positions between the horizontal seated position and the fully raised position. By sequentially isolating the pit lid from the action of each of the springs, one at a time, the moment of spring force opposing closure of the lid more closely follows the moment of the force of gravity tending to close the lid. This substantially reduces the maximum manual force that is thereby required to overcome gravity in opening the pit lid.
