The present invention also provides method for manufacturing the transition device. In addition, the present invention provides a system having an elongated core and a covering as described above. A first floor covering is attached to the floor and abuts one side of the transition device. Similarly, a second floor covering is attached to the floor and abuts the other side of the transition device.

One of the ends of the at least one sleeve is open and foldable about a fold line towards the other end of the at least one sleeve, which is closed, into a folded configuration so as to retain a respective one of the blocking members inside the sleeve between the sleeve ends. A fastening device releasably maintains the sleeve foldable end in the folded configuration.

    Abstract: A door sill assembly for use in an external doorway of a building having a novel, flexible, resilient weatherseal strip is disclosed. The weatherseal strip is disposed between a threshold member and an opposing upright side wall of a metal weather cover. A portion of the strip is attached to and covers an exterior facing side portion of the threshold member and contains a flashing or flap depending downwardly from a sloping shoulder which laps over an upper edge portion of the upright side wall. Water falling upon the weatherseal as, for example, due to rainwater dripping from the external face of an overhanging door when in a closed position, will be directed over the sloping shoulder and flashing beyond the upright side wall onto a sloping foot plate of the weather cover, there to gravitate off an exterior end of the weather cover. The weatherseal thus protects underlying wood parts of the door sill assembly from moisture damage without being held in a compressed state.

    Abstract: A door sill assembly is provided with an adjustable threshold. A sill assembly is made up of an elongated metal frame for installation on the floor of the doorway. The metal frame is provided with a tongue and sloping sill portion, a vertically extending rib and a shelf located below and integrally oriented relative to the rib. The threshold rail is supported on the frame member shelf portion upon two adjustable feet for varying the relative height level of the rail. A plastic threshold cap is sized to fit over the threshold rail and includes a pair of downwardly spaced ribs sized to securely fit over the vertical rib of the frame member to locate the threshold cap and rail relative to the frame member while providing limited vertical adjustment. Preferably, the interior trim molding is provided which is fixed relative to the frame member and oriented inboard of the threshold cap.

The tongue plate of the male subassembly is inserted into the slot formed between the flange plates of the female subassembly a distance sufficient to cause the male and female leg members to be spaced apart a distance that is substantially the same as the distance between the side walls of a window track.

    Abstract: An apparatus for providing a watertight seal at the bottom corners of an entryway is provided. The apparatus includes a flexible pad at each of the bottom corners of the opening where the side jambs meet the threshold cap. The pads extend partially behind the weather strip and are formed with a projection that extends between the legs of the weather strip. The weather strip is thus reinforced and held firmly against the bottom corners of a closed door, the front of the threshold cap beneath the door, and the space therebetween. A secure watertight seal is thus created.

The second lower portion of the one-piece wood rivet includes a threaded shank which mates with a nut affixed to the second piece of wood. The head of the first upper portion of the one-piece wood rivet includes a lip which is deformable into a countersunk bore in the first piece of wood. The one-piece wood rivet resides substantially in a bore which extends through the first piece of wood. The one piece wood rivet is rotatable within the bore of the first piece of wood and is secured to the first piece of wood by its flange and the deformed lip. The second piece of wood includes a bore therethrough and a nut having threads affixed to the second piece of wood.

As an additional protective measure, a layer of a wood end grain sealant such as paraffin or other olefin wax is applied to the lower surface of the casing prior to attachment of the plate to the casing. The plate may also include one or more grooves or flutes across an upper surface portion thereof to permit air circulation between the plate and casing for drying the casing end grain in the event moisture seeps into the end grain through cracks or disruptions in the sealant layer from around the upper edges of the plate.

    Abstract: A door sealing assembly for closing the gap between the lower edge of a door and an underlying floor surface includes an elongated threshold mounted to the floor beneath an overhead door. The threshold presents a plurality of slots which can be aligned with and coupled to fasteners anchored to the floor surface itself. The lower surface of the threshold further includes an adhesive layer which further contributes to the secure mounting of the threshold to the floor as well as inhibiting draught between the floor and threshold. The upper surface of the threshold presents a recess extending along the length thereof. A seal is attached to the lower edge of the door and is configured to nest within the recess. A resilient sheet of impervious material extends across the recess when the door is in an open position and is depressed into the recess by the seal when the door is moved to a closed position to close the gap between the lower edge of the door and the underlying floor surface.

The drain trough has a first portion that at least partially underlies the end of the channel and extends to a mouth at the outside edge of the assembly. Rain water that seeps under the threshold cap and into the channel flows to the end of the channel and into the drain trough of the end cap, which directs the water beyond the outside edge of and away from the assembly. The threshold cap has no openings in the top thereof and is vertically adjustable in the channel by means of a set of threaded pedestals that depend from the bottom of the threshold cap and rest on the floor of the channel.

The threshold has a weatherseal adjacent the water trough that is adapted when flexed by the closed door to allow entry of water into the open end of the water through, and when unflexed upon movement of the door to its open position to cover the open end to prevent foreign material from entering the trough. A drainage system is provided for draining water entering the water trough out of the threshold.

    Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement for adjustable thresholds. The invention includes a threshold base having a channel extending through the length of the base. Sitting in the channel of the base is an elongated bar having an inverted U-shape cross-section. Throughout the length of the bar are several holes extending through the base of the U-shaped section. Several of these holes are threaded and a bolt is screwed into the threaded hole with the head of the bolt sitting on the bottom of the channel in the base. Screwing the bolt into and out of the threaded hole in the bar will raise and lower the bar, and once the height of the bar has been adjusted, it is fixed in the base of the threshold by a screw extending through holes in the bottom of the inverted U-shaped bar and screwed into threaded holes in the bottom of the channel of the base.

    Abstract: An inwardly swinging door is provided with a threshhold assembly that effectively seals against entry of driven water and air. The threshhold assembly includes a sloping subpan having an upstanding rear wall. An integral outer threshhold member and upper pan are connected to and above the subpan. The upper pan provides a primary seal at the front edge of the door bottom and defines a primary sill floor that cooperates with the flexible wiper blades carried by the door bottom to define secondary barriers. The inner side of the door bottom carries a final seal which bars entry of air that may be driven through drainage holes provided in the subpan and interconnecting the interior of the subpan with the interior of the upper pan.
