  • Patent number: 9080376
Abstract: Inside a glass-enclosed chamber is a Venetian blind connected to internal elements for operating it, the elements being workable from outside to raise, lower and incline the slats. The raw slats of the blind are obtained by moulding a rolled strip of aluminum alloy hardened by magnesium. The strip has not been lapped in order to maintain a degree of roughness on both surfaces, ready to receive a reflecting layer. Reflective stratification includes a layer of pure aluminum adherent to the body of the slat that serves to fix a reflective type of interferential dielectric multilayer. Average thickness of the layer of sputtered aluminum depends on the diffusivity of reflected radiation required in relation to the maximum height of the peaks of surface roughness on the body of the slats. Useful multilayers increase reflectance to levels averaging over 85% on a wide interval of wavelengths from near infrared to ultraviolet.

  • Patent number: 9015995
Abstract: An invention is provided for a security shutter assembly. The security shutter assembly includes a shutter door having a plurality of operable louvers pivotally mounted between vertical stiles. A locking element is attached to the first vertical stile, and can be set in a locked position that secures the shutter door closed, and an open position that allows the shutter door to be opened. The locking element includes a louver flange portion that extends over the louvers when the louvers are in the closed position and the locking element is in the open position. However, the louvers block the louver flange from being positioned over the louvers when the louvers are in the open position, thus preventing the locking element from being placed in the open, and unlocked, position while the louvers are in the open position.

  • Patent number: 6123137
Abstract: A double-pane window having a light-control assembly within its peripheral frame. The light-control assembly has an upper section which is adapted to redirect light entering the window through the outside pane so that the light, exiting the window through the inside pane, is reflected upwardly against a ceiling surface of the interior of a room, on the wall of which the window is mounted and a lower section which is adapted to inhibit light entering the window through the outside pane from exiting the window through the inside pane. The lower section and optionally the upper section can each comprise a plurality of laterally-extending slats which can be pivoted about their laterally-extending axes to inhibit or redirect light entering the window. If desired, the slats of the lower section can be pivoted independently of the slats of the upper section. The slats of at least the upper section preferably have a transverse cross-section with a concave surface facing upwardly.

Abstract: A blinder includes main frames spaced apart from each other with a predetermined distance. Each of the main frames has an internal empty space. Support frames are perpendicularly interposed between the main frames to support the main frames. A plurality of shutting members is arranged parallel to each other between the main frames inside the support frames. A motor is fixed to each of the main frames within the internal empty space. A driving shaft is movably connected to the motor within the internal empty space. A plurality of rotating members is fixed to the driving shaft to rotate upon receipt of a rotational power from the motor via the driving shaft. A pulling member is held between each of the opposite rotating members to keep each of the shutting members at its proper place. The pulling member is partially wound around the opposite rotating members in such a manner as to move with the rotation of the rotating member and control an opening or closing operation of the shutting member.

  • Patent number: 5619821
Abstract: A spring-loaded quick-release mechanism to a locking security grille is triggered by (i) manual activation, preferably through a foot switch, or (ii) fire, typically through a thermal fuse. Fins incorporated in, and/or affixed to the bars of, a security grille are preferably rotating, normally in phase, so as to serve as a louver or, when completely closed, an interlocked security shield, or panel. One locking release mechanism, which may optionally be quick release, has a sliding bar with alternate (i) extension and (ii) notch regions that respective engage the ends of solid, purely cylindrical, elongate prisms, normally cylindrical bars, to respective lock, and disengage, these prisms in a security grille. Finally, a security grille with standard universal retention assemblies variously serves to retain any, and any combinations, of tubular bars, solid bars, fins mounted to bars, and solid fins.

  • Patent number: 5600920
Abstract: The window unit of the invention comprises four peripheral channel members linked with corner members to form a window frame. Two glass panels are spaced by this frame to form an inner chamber, the louver blind structure of the invention being located completely therein. The louver blind structure comprises a plurality of horizontal slats pivotally supported at both their extremities and each having an integral toothed wheel engaging a complementary rack on an actuator bar, the latter positioned adjacent to a side peripheral channel member and being free to move upwards or downwards along it. This upward or downward movement imparts a pivoting movement to the slats. The louver blind structure further comprises a support channel member supporting a reversible electrical motor having a driving shaft. This shaft has an eccentric stud which engages the actuator bar and must therefore be kept properly alined so as to resist radial forces exerted thereon.
