  • Patent number: 11326387
Abstract: Electro-mechanical and electronically controlled access devices are described for automatically controlling passage between two areas, and where a plurality of such access control devices may be ganged or clustered to provided additional throughput and directional control, including stacking a plurality of access control devices side by side within a cluster. Each access control device contains multiple rotatable and moveable door panels. The door panels are controlled by various drive mechanisms to enable passage through the device, while ensuring by the use of sensors that door panels avoid touching subjects as they traverse the device. The direction of flow through a device according to these embodiments is electronically controlled and may be changed from time to time. At any instant in time while being traversed, the flow through each device is unidirectional. Multiple devices within a cluster can be directionally controlled according to traffic, demand, time of day, or other factors.

  • Patent number: 8453382
Abstract: An entry control apparatus includes a pair of spaced barriers forming a pathway therebetween. The barriers are positioned adjacent a doorway to control ingress into and egress from a building or the like. An arm is pivotally mounted and extends across the pathway and permits free movement of people in one direction and selectively restricts movement in the other direction. A motion sensor is provided and a motion control system is associated with the sensor. The sensor and motion control system cooperate to selectively allow the arm to move to a normally open position for normal traffic in an approved direction. In the event a person approaches the apparatus, as if to exit, or move in the wrong direction through the pathway, the sensor detects the movement and effects operation of the motion control system that locks the arm against movement to prevent movement through the passageway. An alarm system can be provided to alert personnel that an unauthorized movement through the pathway may be underway.

Abstract: An active rinse shield designed to protect electrofill chemical baths from excessive dilution during rinse sprays on the semiconductor wafer. The shield uses overlapping blades to cover the bath, making a physical barrier between the bath chemistry and the wafer rinse water. The blades are interconnecting ribs that actuate around a common pivot axis. A linear mechanical actuator controls the blade movement, moving the top-most blade, which in turn, moves an adjacent lower blade. Each upper blade is interconnected to an adjacent lower blade by upper and lower ledges, a pivot boss and interlocking cut, and a curved ledge on each blade's body surface. The interconnecting features allow the blades to move one another out for extension or in for retraction. The interlocking blades are inclined above one another, forming grooves to redirect the rinse water away from the chemical bath.

Abstract: This system is comprised of an insulated access door (6), which makes for the closure of the cold room (4) in coming into contact with the door frame (1) fixed onto the entrance (2) of said cold room (4), and a quick opening door made up of a moveable sheet (8) and the corresponding means of activation (9, 10). These means of activation are to be fixed to the exterior of the cold room (4). There is also a longitudinal slit (7) fixed onto the door frame (1) so that the sheet (8) can pass, this sheet (8) being able to effect the closure either in front of or behind the insulated door (6). The system includes a stopper device (7) which can close the slit (7) in order to minimize the temperature loss through same, and some means (71 and 161) of heating the slit (7) and some guides (16) on which the sheet (8) moves to its open or closed position.

Abstract: A sealable door assembly including a frontplate which faces an opening to be sealed, a backplate operatively coupled to the frontplate, and at least one inflatable member located between the frontplate and the backplate. When inflated, the inflatable member moves the frontplate into sealing engagement with the opening. In one embodiment the inflatable member includes one or more vacuum grade bellows. A movable mechanism moves the door assembly to selectively occlude the opening. Once the door assembly occludes the opening, the inflatable member is inflated and expands forcing the frontplate in a direction normal to the opening, thereby sealing the opening. The door assembly may be mounted within a pocket formed in an outer wall of a transfer chamber, and a sealing plate may be employed to form a gas tight region within the pocket. The gas tight region may be pressurized to enhance the door's seal of the opening.

Abstract: A tape cartridge access port includes frames defining a series of tape cartridge magazine cavities for directly loading magazines filled with tape cartridges with the labels on the front surfaces of the tape cartridges oriented towards the robotics of an automated cartridge library. The tape cartridge access port has safety doors which prevent access by an operator to the robotics of the automated cartridge library while allowing the magazines and the tape cartridges to be accessible to the operator when the robotics are in operation on other tape cartridges. The safety doors are triggered and released by a magazine loaded into the tape cartridge access port. The tape cartridge access port also has an outer door panel locked and unlocked by a library management unit of the automated cartridge library to prevent the operator and the robotics of the automated cartridge library from handling a magazine at the same time.

Abstract: A rapid access door system is provided wherein authorized individuals may pass through the door system and wherein unauthorized individuals are blocked from entering a secured area past the doors and are automatically rerouted to an unsecured area for further processing without blocking the door system and impeding the flow of other individuals entering the door system. The door system uses modular units employing sensing means and a specially configured door which door automatically provides the rerouting of persons in the system. The sensing means determines, among others, the number of persons in the system, whether the door is opened or closed, whether a person has exited the system to particular areas, alerting speakers and signage, with the above information being used in conjunction with the door system to provide a highly efficient and effective rapid access portal system.

Abstract: A circular outage cover of light-weight composite material is normally situated in a standby position adjacent to the opening at the outer end of the equipment access tunnel of a nuclear reactor containment vessel. In case of an emergency during an outage, the outage cover can be quickly rolled into position and engaged with a transition ring provided as an extension of the tunnel by retractable retaining shoes on the retaining ring and an inflatable seal carried by the outage cover. The ability of the outage cover to be closed quickly makes it possible to keep the operational cover open throughout most of the outage, and reduces the overall outage time. Hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical services pass radially through the transition ring and do not interfere with closure of the outage cover. An auxiliary diaphragm cooperable with the transition ring is used for pressure testing of the outage cover.
