With Side Panels; E.g., Awning Patents (Class 49/71)
  • Patent number: 8390266
Abstract: In a method and a device for determining a reference position of a locking part moved by an electric motor, the locking part is moved in the direction of the closed state thereof, until the same reaches a stop position. At that location the meter reading of a position meter describing the stop position is detected and buffered. Subsequently a movement of the locking part is carried out in the direction of the opened state thereof. The locking part is then moved again in the direction of the closed state thereof, until it again reaches a stop position. At that location a meter reading describing the stop position is detected, and compared to the buffered meter reading. If both meter readings agree, the first stop position is determined as the reference position. The method and device can be utilized, for example, for power window lifts and sunroofs of motor vehicles.

Abstract: A tri-vent awning window for absorbing sunlight heat in warm weather that otherwise would flow uncontrolled therethrough and discharging the sunlight heat to the atmosphere while permitting relatively unobstructed vision therethrough and passing the sunlight heat in cold weather therethrough for thermal warming. The tri-vent awning window includes a frame, an inner pane, an outer pane, and a heat sink. The inner pane is replaceably mounted to the frame so as to form a first vent. The outer pane is pivotally mounted to the frame so as to form a second vent, and is spaced from the inner pane so as to form a space therebetween. The heat sink is removably mounted to the frame, in the space, and when removed, creates a passive solar application. The inner pane has an in-place position and the outer pane has an open position during which in the warm weather the sunlight heat hits the heat sink and passes therethrough and rises by convection.

  • Patent number: 6487821
Abstract: The panels (1, 2) are along a frame member connected to one or more support elements (3) in an angle of inclination in relation to a subjacent securing plane by means of mounting and hinge fittings (4) which can be adjusted in dependence of said angle of inclination, the fittings also constituting the hinge fittings of the openable panels. Each fitting (4) comprises a securing part for connection with the support element (3), a hinge part for connection with the frame structure of the panel (1, 2) and an adjustment part connecting the securing part with the hinge part.

  • Patent number: 5451091
Abstract: Lifting roof or sliding-lifting roof for vehicles with a rigid cover which can be lifted and lowered or lifted, lowered and retracted to open and close a roof opening provided in a stationary roof panel. For at least partial covering of edge gaps formed between lateral edges of the cover and the roof panel when the cover is lifted, strip-shaped lateral shields project outward and downward from the cover at both sides of the cover. These lateral shields are formed of a compressible foam material.

  • Patent number: 4841672
Abstract: A solar protection device includes slats of refractive material rotatable about a longitudinal axis, having an even, flat upper side and having on their lower side prisms arranged serially without gaps and running parallel to the longitudinal axis. In order to maintain the condition for retroreflection with variations of the sun's position, the angle of inclination to the horizontal of the slats must be readjusted from time to time, at least seasonably. For automatic adjustment thereof a light sensing arrangement of two light sensors arranged oppositely on both cathetal legs of one of the prisms whose hypotenuse is formed by the upper side of the rotatable slat. Control by a drive and associated electronics is undertaken and continued as long as solar rays impinge on one of the light sensors with intensity exceeding a predetermined illumination level.

  • Patent number: 4798410
Abstract: A lifting sliding roof for a vehicle having a cover that is inserted into a cover opening and that, starting from a closed position, while lifting its rear edge, is tiltable into a tilted position and in this position is moved over the fixed part of the roof toward the rear into an open position. When the cover is lifted but rests against a front edge of the roof opening, air can flow via lateral gap areas and a rear gap area between the cover and the roof into the passenger compartment, but when the cover is tilted and is pushed to the rear at least partially, a sealing frame is provided that closes off the lateral gap areas and the rear gap area so that in this cover position, the air reaches the passenger compartment only through the area of the roof opening that is located in front of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4663905
Abstract: A skylight assembly for installation in an opening in the pitched roof of a building, comprising a window hinged at one end with respect to the roof, and a rubbery flashing member for maintaining a water-tight seal between the window and roof. The flashing member includes a planar portion for attachment to the roof, beneath the shingles, in an area adjacent to the opening, a portion for attachment to each side of the window, and a gusset portion between each attachment portion and the planar portion. The gusset portion expands and contracts as the window is opened and closed, respectively. All the portions of the flashing member are integrally formed at one piece. The gussets may be accordian-folded and may taper toward the hinged end of the window. The attachment portions of the flashing may be sandwiched between the window pane and window frame to serve as a gasket between those parts of the window.

  • Patent number: 3943662
Abstract: The conversion unit is a simple frame structure applied inwardly of a window opening, such as in a residential basement equipped with metal casement windows. It comprises a pair of like triangular end members or panels bridged across inner upright edges thereof by a light-transmitting portion in which a pair of ornamentally decorated sliding panels are mounted, as in a pair of overlapped grooves in a frame part of the panel portion. The unit is applied with outer vertical edges thereof in abutted engagement with a wall carrying the casement window and with upper margins of the generally triangular open frame structure in upwardly flush engaging abutment with the room ceiling just above the casement window zone. the sliding panels are chosen of a decorative plastic, semi-rigid sheet, preferably somewhat flexible in nature, and also by preference provision is made for a removal of the unit from the casement area for full access to the castment window from its interior.
