Skin Or Paper Treating Patents (Class 492/26)
  • Patent number: 11266544
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods for making patterned apertured substrates that may be used as components of absorbent articles. During the manufacturing processes, a precursor substrate advances in a machine direction between a pattern roll and an anvil roll. The pattern roll rotates about an axis of rotation and includes a plurality of pattern surfaces, wherein the substrate is compressed between the anvil roll and the pattern surfaces of the pattern roll to form discrete bond regions in the substrate. The pattern surfaces on the pattern roll are formed on continuous threads extending circumferentially around the axis of rotation along helical paths parallel with each other. As such, the pattern surfaces press the substrate against the outer circumferential surface of the anvil roll in the different axial locations along the cross direction as the pattern roll rotates when forming the discrete bond regions.

  • Patent number: 7527583
Abstract: A paper machine press roll comprises a core roll and a ceramics sprayed film formed on an outer periphery of the core roll, in which values of Rk and Vo which are characteristic evaluation parameters of a plateau-structure surface of the ceramics sprayed film are Rk?8.0 ?m and Vo?0.030 mm3/cm2. (Vo=(100?Mr2)×Rvk/2000 (mm3/cm2) where Rk, Mr2 and Rvk are a core level difference, a core load length ratio and a projecting valley depth, respectively which are defined in JIS B0671-2-2002 (ISO13565-2-1996).

  • Patent number: 7094191
Abstract: A press roll is employed in the press section, calender section, etc., of a papermaking machine. The press roll includes a first tapered surface (11a) and a first clamping surface (12a). The first tapered surface (11a) is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the supporting head (11) and diminishes in outside diameter toward its axially outer end. The first clamping surface (12a) is formed in the inner peripheral surface of the clamping member (12) and coincides with the first tapered surface (11a). With the first tapered surface (11a) and the first clamping surface (12a), a blanket (10) is clamped on the first tapered surface (11a) in a perpendicular direction. In this way, the blanket (10) can be exchanged easily and uniformly in a short time.

  • Publication number: 20010002381
Abstract: A take-out leading roll, spreader roll or equivalent for a web-like material including a non-revolving roll axle having end parts and a middle part situated between the end parts, and a continuous and tubular roll mantle revolvingly journalled by bearings on the roll axle and extending over the end parts and the middle part. The middle part is pivotally linked to the end parts to enable the roll to be bent to a desired arcuate shape. The roll mantle is preferably journalled on the roll axle only in the areas of the roll ends by bearings supported on the end parts of the roll axle. The material of the roll mantle is preferably a composite material.

  • Patent number: 5766120
Abstract: A calender roller includes a cylindrical base body. The base body has a thin circumferential wall, which is not self-supporting, and a support structure made of a thin-wall cellular material is disposed inside of the circumferential wall. • Patent number: 5342277
Abstract: A roll, especially for press rolls in paper machines includes an elastomeric shell separated from a roll core. The roll is characterized by the fact that, in the region of the axial end of the roll core, there is a large reduction in thickness of the roll shell, with the reduced thickness provided substantially at the axial end of the roll shell or in an annular transition region spaced from and near the end of the shell.

  • Patent number: 5244138
Abstract: A roller over which advances a web of material such as paper, photographic film or the like includes a plurality of staves organized in first and second arrays with the staves of the first array alternating with the staves of the second array to provide surfaces for supporting the web. The staves are each individually mounted on the roller by separate spring legs which center the staves. Flanges are located at the ends of the roller to position the web laterally. When the web obliquely approaches the axis of the roller so as to helically advance thereover, the staves sequentially and independently shift axially due to engagement with the helically advancing web. After the web leaves the roller, the stave that the web was most recently supported by returns under the bias of the spring legs to its central, unbiased position. In this way, damage to the edges of the web, due to engagement with the flanges, is minimized.
