Abstract: An automatic inspection device for a corrugated paperboard machine includes comprises a position setting section for setting movable members to positions within moving ranges; a control section for driving each of the drive motors at a given rotational speed so as to allow a respective one of the movable members to be moved within a corresponding one of the moving ranges; a current detection section for detecting a drive current being supplied to each of the drive motors when the drive motor is driven at the given rotational speed; and a current determination section for determining whether the drive current of each of the drive motors exceeds a given threshold. The automatic inspection device is configured to, when the current determination section determines that the drive current of a specific one of the plurality of drive motors exceeds the given threshold, detecting that a defect occurs in the movable member.

  • Publication number: 20130095990
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a recording head, a carnage, a sheet cutting device, a cutter position detecting device, and a controller. The cutting device includes a cutter and a cutter unit holding the cutter. A movement area of the carriage overlaps a movement area of the cutter unit in a thickness direction of a sheet. The detecting device detects a position of the cutter unit. The controller performs initial operation upon power on of the apparatus to move the cutter unit to a cutter home position located at one end of the movement area of the cutter unit. The cutter unit, after cutting the sheet, is movable in a width direction of the sheet with the cutter unit retracted from a sheet feed path in the thickness direction. The controller determines whether or not to perform the initial operation based on detection results of the detecting device.

  • Patent number: 5944645
Abstract: A finisher includes moving devices, which are movably mounted relative to a conveying path for applying additional-workings to a sheet having an image formed surface, such as a folding stopper which adjusts the position for folding the sheet, an aligning device which aligns the edge of sheet being temporarily stacked, and a head unit of a stapler which staples the sheet at a proper position. The finisher retracts or returns the moving devices to their relevant home positions, which are separated by prescribed distances from the conveying path when a jam of a sheet occurs. Accordingly, the finisher forms a space which accepts a user's hand in the neighborhood of the stuck sheet, improves the operational efficiency of removing the sheet, and prevents the user from touching the moving devices and inevitably moving them to abnormal positions.

  • Patent number: 5743066
Abstract: A longitudinal sealer for a bag maker-packaging machine is controlled such that when an abnormal condition is detected and the operation of the machine is stopped temporarily and then restarted after the abnormal condition is removed, the mechanism for moving the film and the heater for heating edge parts of the film to seal them together are deactivated and reactivated, but not both at the same time. Deactivation of the heater is delayed after that of the mechanism for moving the fill and/or reactivation of the movement of the film is delayed after that of the heater such that the film is certain to be longitudinally well sealed in spite of the interruption of the sealing operation.

  • Patent number: 5176605
Abstract: Folding mandrels (11) of a folding turret (10) are in the form of elongate thin-walled hollow bodies and are susceptible to mechanical stress. The folding mandrels (11) are monitored by a monitoring unit (13) with inductive tracers (14, 15; 29, 30) as regards correct arrangement and shape. Any changes in the shape of the mandrels actuate an error signal which is is assigned to the respective folding mandrel (11). The tracers may be arranged on one side of the path of movement of the folding mandrels (11) at different distances thereto. Alternatively, tracers can be installed at equal distances on either side of the path of movement of the folding mandrels (11).

  • Patent number: 4724429
Abstract: A system for monitoring each of multiplicity of variables in the operation of a filter rod making machine includes sensors located at various points on the machine. These sensors measure the value of such variable parameters as the width of the tow, the alignment of the wrapping paper, the speed of the rollers and the level of plasticizer. Each measured value is compared against preset limit values in a microprocessor. If a variable is detected to be outside a range of acceptable values, an indication of this fact is displayed on a monitor. In response to this indication, an operator can decide whether to override the limit value or take corrective action. If corrective action is to be taken, the microprocessor causes a diagnostic chart to be displayed. This chart provides the operator with a sequence of troubleshooting steps that can be taken to isolate the source of a possible problem and perhaps correct it before there is a need to arrest the operation of the machine.
