  • Patent number: 9809412
Abstract: A sheet folding apparatus having two-folding rollers each of whose outer diameter gradually decreases from the central part to each end part, a folding plate which can move forward to or backward from a nip between the two-folding rollers, and has a cutout part located at an edge part of the folding plate facing the nip between central parts of the two-folding rollers, wherein the cutout part does not reach the nip between the central parts of the two-folding rollers when the sheets are folded, and a folding plate support member which is placed at a position facing the nip between the central parts of the two-folding rollers, and can slide in a direction of moving closer to or away from the nip, wherein the folding plate support member projects from the cutout part when the sheets are set, and does not reach the nip when the sheets are folded.

  • Publication number: 20130017941
Abstract: A swing roll 36 is arranged over a gluing roll 14 and is configured to be movable in the direction of the arrow, so that the number of flute tips of a single faced corrugated cardboard k that are to be concurrently in contact with the gluing roll 14 at a nip N between the gluing roll 14 and a pressure roll 20 can be adjusted, and an amount of glue to be applied to each flute tip m of the single faced corrugated cardboard k can be optimized. In addition, since the pressure roll 20 is arranged on the same horizontal level as the gluing roll 14, influence of a bend caused by the weight of the pressure roll 20 can be avoided and the glue can be applied evenly in the width direction. The single faced corrugated cardboard k is wrapped around the pressure roll 20 at the exit of a nip N to allow a splash s of glue to return to a glue bath 12. Additionally, this configuration makes the single faced corrugated board to leave the surface of the gluing roll at a constant point d.

  • Patent number: 4865578
Abstract: A glue head mounting bracket for glue applying folding machines is disclosed which holds a glue head for dispensing glue onto a sheet of paper that is to be folded and secured at the glue lines, which bracket permits the glue head to be placed at a predetermined location and the glue head swiveled out of the way for non-glue application. The bracket is of two piece fixed and demountable construction with the glue head carried in the demountable bracket piece, so that the glue head can be moved for cleaning and repair or replacement, and the glue head placed back into service without changing the location of the glue line.

  • Patent number: 4838846
Abstract: In the production of cigarette packs, especially soft-cup packs 11, folding tabs have to be provided with glue marks 15. To make accurate glue marks 15 even on packaging machines operating at a high working speed, a glue unit 16 is arranged on the periphery of the folding turret 35 in such a way that glue faces 32 of the glue-coating member 21 having glue wings 22, 23 come up against a side-wall tab 13 to be provided with glue marks 15, this at the same time being deformed elastically. As result of the relative movement, the glue wing 22, 23 is rolled on the side-wall tab 13 by means of the glue face 32, thus producing an accurate glue pattern.

  • Patent number: 4551124
Abstract: The application discloses a gluing apparatus for an adjustable machine for manufacturing corrugated boxes of a plurality of sizes. The apparatus includes an automatic glue dispensing head for applying glue to a corrugated box blank. The dispensing head is operatively connected to a mechanism for indexing the dispensing head towards and away from a centerline of the box manufacturing machine. The indexing mechanism is driven by a means operatively connected to an adjustable assembly station on the box manufacturing machine. Adjustment of the assembly station to produce a preselected size box correspondingly indexes the glue head towards or away from the centerline to a predetermined direction and distance from the centerline of the machine to apply glue to the box blank.

  • Patent number: 4522618
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a tapered, nestable leakproof container having a bottom wall integral with front and back panels and side panels and a triangular connecting panel between additional panels extending from the front and back panels and the side panels, wherein the apparatus comprises a die and a tapered mandrel for forcing a blank through the die. The container blank is positioned on a support immediately above the die and held in position by guides on the support. Before the tapered mandrel engages the blank, glue is applied to the outer edges of the side panels of the rear wall of the container at the inner surfaces adjacent the outer edges of side panels connected to the rear panel and at the inner surface adjacent the outer edges of the side panels. The blank is forced into the die by the tapered mandrel. Appropriate pressure rollers resist the entry of the mandrel and move outwardly as the mandrel moves into the die moving the blank into the die.
