Abstract: An assembly to manufacture a roll of prepreg material. The assembly includes a moving system for picking a sheet of prepreg material from a stack of sheets and moving the sheet along a feed path. An alignment system aligns a leading edge of the sheets with a trailing edge of a roll of the prepreg material. A welding system connects the sheet to the roll.

Abstract: The present invention is a washable and reusable storage bag comprising a plastic coated canvas made from cotton and polyethylene. The storage bag comprises a front panel having a zipper and a back panel, a bottom edge and a top edge, and two side edges. The bag further comprises a rectangular transparent polyurethane window in the front panel, preferably in the shape of a rectangle. Two opposing sides of the transparent polyurethane window are heat sealed to the plastic coated canvas to create a liquid tight seal between the transparent polyurethane window and the plastic coated canvas. The outside of the storage bag can be customized with, e.g., designs, branding, and/or advertising. The storage bags can be hand washed, put in the dishwasher or put in the washing machine and clothes dryer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an absorbent structure, preferably for use in absorbent articles as used in the personal hygiene industry such as feminine hygiene garments, baby diapers and pants or adult incontinence garments. The present invention also relates to an absorbent article comprising such absorbent structure and to a method of manufacturing the absorbent structure. The absorbent structures comprise a carrier layer, an auxiliary layer and an absorbent material there between wherein substantially permanent primary attachments and substantially temporary secondary attachments join the carrier layer and auxiliary layer at least partially together, whereby the substantially temporary secondary attachments are loosened as a result of exposing the absorbent structure to a liquid whereas the substantially permanent primary attachments remain substantially intact.

Abstract: A secondary internal topsheet and leg wrap structure is provided in a disposable absorbent garment such as a diaper or training pants. The leg wrap structure has a base layer, a top layer, and an elastic construction disposed inbetween. The elastic construction includes a plurality of spaced apart elastic elements that are aligned in a generally in generally parallel relation. The leg wrap structure and secondary topsheet provides for the efficient formation of a reservoir and a plurality of fluid dams each capable of capturing a quantity of fluid to minimize the occurrence of fluid leaks from the absorbent article. Methods of forming such absorbent articles are disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a beverage mixing apparatus. Specifically, the present invention relates to a filter containing coffee, tea, or another additive to be mixed with a liquid. The filter is formed into a ball and attached to a rigid stick for stirring and mixing the contents of the present invention into a liquid. The filter may keep solid beverage additives separate from the liquid while still allowing the two to mix. Soluble additives may pass freely through the filter.

Abstract: A bodily fluid absorbent matrix adapted to restrict a wet feeling against the wearer's skin after the absorbent matrix in a bodily fluid absorbent wearing article having absorbed bodily fluids and a method for manufacturing the absorbent matrix. A bodily fluid absorbent wearing article has an absorbent matrix formed of aggregate of bodily fluid absorbent material between a liquid-permeable first sheet and a liquid-impermeable second sheet. The member includes hydrophilic fibers as the bodily fluid absorbent material. Density of the absorbent matrix changes so as to increase from the first sheet toward the second sheet in thickness direction of the absorbent matrix. A planar orientation index of the hydrophilic fibers also changes so as to increase in the thickness direction of the absorbent matrix.

Abstract: A diaper and method for its manufacture are disclosed. The diaper comprises one gathered lengthwise edge with an elastic material for that edge to expand and contract. The other lengthwise edge is static in length and longer than the gathered edge. The disparity in length tapers the diaper toward the gathered edge. The diaper is secured around a male quadruped with the gathered edge being around the quadruped's torso and the static edge fitting immediately anterior to its hind legs.

Abstract: An absorbent article for use with a RF reader includes an absorbent pad and a RFID tag. The absorbent pad includes a lining layer, a liquid-impermeable layer, an absorbent layer, and a plurality of sensing wires. The liquid-impermeable layer is attached to the lining layer. The absorbent layer is disposed between the lining layer and the liquid-impermeable layer. The lining layer and the liquid--impermeable layer define a receiving space having an opening located at a side portion of the absorbent pad. The sensing wires are provided on the absorbent layer and extend into the receiving space. The RFID tag is received in the receiving space and contacts electrically the sensing wires when received in the receiving space.

Abstract: A foldable greeting card and method of making the card, with a polygonal base with hinged lobes attached to the edges of the base, with the lobes foldable inward to the center of the base. The lobes overlap neighboring lobes. The card is made by affixing at least two separate units to each other, so that each hinged lobe overlaps by a neighboring lobe and is overlapped by a neighboring lobe. A message or graphic may be placed on the lobes or the base.

Abstract: An absorbent article including a chassis and a laminate. The chassis has a topsheet side, a backsheet side, and first and second opposing longitudinal edges extending from a rear waist region to an opposing front waist region. The laminate includes a carrier having a first face and a second face and a fastening patch on a portion of the first face of the carrier. The laminate is wrapped around the first longitudinal edge of the chassis in the rear waist region so that the second face of the carrier contacts the topsheet side and the backsheet side of the chassis. The fastening patch includes fastening elements that are exposed on the topsheet side of the chassis. A method of making the absorbent article is also disclosed.

Abstract: Provided herein are self-expanding wound dressings that include a first outer layer, a second outer layer, and a liquid-expandable layer disposed between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, wherein the liquid-expandable layer includes a plurality of liquid-expandable articles retained by a substrate, wherein the plurality of liquid-expandable articles expand to form expanded articles upon contact with a liquid. Also provided is a method of treating an individual having a bleeding wound, the method including applying a self-expanding wound dressing to the wound. Also provided are methods of manufacturing a wound dressing, the methods including forming an absorbent material into a plurality of liquid-expandable articles, coupling the plurality of liquid-expandable articles to a substrate to form a liquid-expandable layer, and positioning the liquid-expandable layer between a first outer layer and a second outer layer to form the wound dressing.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for folding and engaging side panels of a training pant are provided. The training pant comprises a leading portion, a trailing portion, a central portion, and a first pair of side panels and a second pair of side panels attached to the central portion. The central portion of the training pant is folded about a transverse axis to form a folded training pant. Portions of the first pair of side panels and second pair of side panels are engaged while the central portion of the folded training pant is received by at least one recessed seat. The at least one recessed seat is located on at least one of a first belt and a second belt of a conveyance system.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing disposable absorbent garments and a garment made thereby. In particular embodiments, the method comprises removing notches or holes of a garment web or webs adjacent to front and back waist edges to define a series of spaced apart front and back waist edge openings. The method includes providing front and back elastic waistband webs, and positioning the respective waistband webs to overlay at least a portion of each opening, and bonding the waistband webs to each other. The garment includes first and second waist edge cutouts, wherein two side seams extend from the waist edge cutouts to respective leg openings. The garment further includes front and back elastic waistbands attached to each other at first and second waistband side seams.

Abstract: A filter manufacturing machine includes a forming device for forming filter tow into a hollow rod-shaped continuous filter body, a forming tube included in the forming device and having a tubular forming path through which the filter tow is passed while being brought together, a mandrel arranged in the forming tube and forming the tubular forming path in cooperation with the forming tube, and a heat treating section included in the forming tube and configured to heat the filter tow while the filter tow passes through the tubular forming path. The mandrel has a small-diameter portion located at the inlet of the forming tube, a large-diameter portion located at the outlet of the forming tube, and a diameter expansion portion located between the small- and large-diameter portions. The diameter expansion portion is located downstream of the heat treating section as viewed in the moving direction of the filter tow.

The perforation allows the reception surface to be separated into first and second belt portions. At least a part of the reception surface is located on each belt portion, thereby allowing the article to assume a belt diaper form. The first belt portion comprises at least one fastening means. The second fastening means is arranged so that the absorbent article can be readily converted from a pant diaper form to a belt diaper form.

Abstract: A method for facilitating the alignment of first and second side panel portions of a pants-type diaper whilst feeding a pants-type diaper precursor in a machine direction through processing apparatus. The pants-type diaper precursor includes a leading edge region, a trailing edge region and first and second side edge regions, each of the first and second side edge regions having a first side panel portion at the leading edge region and a second side panel portion at the trailing edge region. The method includes applying elastic elements under tension to a flat continuous web having a predetermined width in the cross-machine direction, the web forming either the backsheet or the topsheet of the pants-type diaper. The elastic element in the trailing edge region is adapted to generate a greater gathering force than the elastic element in the leading edge region such that the first and second panels are better aligned when brought into overlapping relationship.

Abstract: A method of making reinforced paperboard cartons comprises the steps of advancing a web of paperboard along a path and progressively laminating at least one ribbon of reinforcing material to the advancing web of paperboard. The ribbon of reinforcing material, which also may be paperboard, has a width less than the width of the web of paperboard and is applied with adhesive at a selected location across the width of the web. The web and its laminated ribbon are cut into sheets of a predetermined size and the sheets are die-cut and scored with fold lines to form carton blanks. The carton blanks are subsequently formed into cartons for receiving articles, the laminated reinforcing material providing reinforcement in selected portions of the cartons. Multiple ribbons and multiple layers of ribbons may be laminated to the web in respective selected locations to provide reinforcement in more than one portion of the cartons. Reinforced cartons and carton blanks made by the method also are provided.

Thus, the absorbent article can be permeate into by a thick liquid, and is more likely to absorb liquid.

Abstract: 13A miniature, highly decorative kite that flies indoors or outdoors is made by cutting a small piece of tissue paper into any preselected shape, including the shape of a standard diamond-shaped kite. Very finely cut bamboo sticks serve as the frame of the miniature kite and are adhered to a first side of the kite body to form a frame that maintains the preselected shape. Two elongate ribbons are secured to one another at their respective leading ends and are secured to the trailing end of the kite body. A string is attached to the apex of a triangular flap that is adhered to a second side of the kite body. The flap is folded at its base so that it lies in a plane perpendicular to the kite body when functioning. The kite flies in the slightest breeze and may be flown indoors.
