  • Patent number: 6409646
Abstract: In the production of hinge-lid boxes for cigarettes, outer side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25) are folded last of all in order to form side walls of the hinge-lid box (10). The side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25), extending in a horizontal plane, are to be provided with glue on the underside. For this purpose, glue nozzles (41, 42) are arranged in the region of a pack conveyor path (30) and have the side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25) butting against them temporarily for the transfer of strip-like applications of glue.

  • Patent number: 6036627
Abstract: A machine for ejecting, inverting and positioning a hygienic cap (18), made of plastic or similar material, inside a coffee cup (19) or similar container having a suction hole (20) in its bottom, so that the cap perfectly lines the cup and its rim and prevents direct contact of the liquid and the user's lips with the cup. The machine provides a completely automatic lining of the cup whereby once the cup (19) to be lined is positioned on its base (14), a mechanism is activated, which ejects the cap and inserts it perfectly into the cup whereafter the machine stops, the mechanism is interrupted and is started again as soon as the lined cup is removed and replaced with a new cup.

  • Patent number: 5135461
Abstract: A machine (300) and the process for manufacture of a unique completely pleated product (110) which is made from a continuous, flexible web (311) for the covering of windows and the like. The machinery consists of a production line (300) with at least a screen printing assembly (306), printing phase control apparatus (330), a unique pleating assembly (400 or 800) and an optional folding assembly (500) for stacking and receiving the final product. Screen printing and web travel phasing is performed in accordance with standard practices in the industry, while the pleating and folding of the finished product is performed by apparatus designed and constructed by the instant inventors. After predetermined patterns of adhesive or bonding material (212) have been applied to the continuous web (311), it is pleated by a paired roller assembly (400 or 800) and, through the optional use of an air knife assembly (500), folded into a collecting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4988330
Abstract: A machine for and a method of manufacturing folded containers, especially folded blanks. The machine has a mechanism for applying adhesive, a folding station, and a pressure-application station with pressure-application mechanisms for forcing the adhesive-coated seams together to seal them. The invention ensures that, when the machine is stopped, all the blanks to which adhesive has been applied but which have not yet been folded to form sealed seams are automatically marked or rejected. The machine has both a marking or rejecting mechanism downstream of the pressure-application station and computerized controls that, when the machine is stopped, determine the number of folded blanks in the production line between the adhesive-application mechanism and a first pressure-application mechanism in the pressure-application station and, once the machine is started again, control the marking or rejecting mechanism.
