Patent number: 8062718Abstract: An artificial Christmas tree includes a central trunk broken into at least two separate portions including a fixed trunk portion and at least one rotating trunk portion. The fixed trunk extends up from an underlying base. Rotating trunks rotatably attach at midpoints thereof at least indirectly to an upper end of the fixed trunk. Limbs are pivotably attached to the rotating trunks with optional lights coupled thereto. These limbs pivot between a perpendicular orientation extending from the rotating trunks and a collapsed configuration closer to a centerline of the rotating trunks. The rotating trunks can be pivoted from a first collapsed configuration with a first end above a second end to a deployed configuration with the second end above the first end. During such pivoting, the limbs attached to the rotating trunk transition between a collapsed to a deployed configuration automatically. A wheeled base and cover further facilitate storage and deployment.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2010Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Inventor: Bruce A. Schooley

Patent number: 7445824Abstract: An invertible decorative tree having sections that are each provided with complementary receiving and associating mechanisms. The sections include a stand, a trunk segment, at least one tree body and a tree top. Through the complementary relationships of the receiving and associating mechanisms, the tree can be arranged to provide a triangular appearance with its apex at the top or its apex near the bottom. In order to provide for this inversion, the tree top must be equipped to connect with the trunk segment or with a tree body segment.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2006Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Cindex Holdings LimitedInventors: Alan Leung, Yau-Chuen Ng

Patent number: 6200656Abstract: According to the present invention, an artificial tree is provided which includes a tree element having a central generally disc-shaped member and a plurality of generally annular rings concentric to the central disc-shaped member and to one another such that the central disc-shaped member and the rings, in the operative position, are positioned in a vertically spaced, tiered array, with the central disc-shaped member at an uppermost position such that the tiered array is configured to have a tree-shape. A plurality of connecting strips connect each tier of the array to a next adjacent tier of the array. The disc-shaped member, the concentric rings, and the connecting strips may be formed from a unitary sheet of material, and the disc-shaped member and the concentric rings may be formed by providing a plurality of discontinuous generally spiral slits in the sheet of material.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1999Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Wellpak Technical Development LimitedInventor: Kwok Choi Tsang

Patent number: 5300010Abstract: A mechanical apparatus and method for producing a folded paper rose from an elongated strip of paper. The apparatus is operated by feeding an elongated paper strip through a rotating shuttle assembly, and securing the end of the paper strip onto a slotted stem which is rotated simultaneously with the shuttle assembly. Rotating the shuttle assembly causes a pair of shuttles to cooperate with a paper folding member adjacent the ends of the shuttles to produce a series of sequential folds in the paper strip. Meanwhile, the stem is simultaneously rotating to assemble the folded paper around the stem. Once the paper is fully assembled around the stem the folded paper strip is compressed toward the top of the stem to form a compact flower assembly at the end of the stem.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1992Date of Patent: April 5, 1994Assignee: Hasbro, Inc.Inventor: Fred D. Patent number: 5128180Abstract: A separable framework for an artificial tree comprising a plurality of vertically stacked, separable and telescopically collapsible frame sections diminishing progressively in transverse dimension from the lowermost to the uppermost thereof. Each of the frame sections above the lowermost is support on the frame section immediately below in the stacked or erected condition, but is resiliently moveable to a condition in which it is separable from and telescopically received within the frame section immediately below to permit the framework to be collapsed.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1991Date of Patent: July 7, 1992Inventor: Hugh C. Patent number: 5085901Abstract: An artificial tree has a top section, a bottom section and a centrally positioned vertical pole which is height adjustable. The top section has a top member and a plurality of rings with the lower most ring also having a plurality of spokes interconnecting the ring with an inner hub. A plurality of strings depend downwardly from the top member and secure each of the other rings in their desired parallel positions. The bottom section also has a plurality of rings with the upper most and lower most rings having spokes and inner hubs. The rings of the bottom section are also connected together by string. The upper most ring of the bottom section sets atop the height adjustment means. In addition to the pole preferably having two sections telescopically oriented with respect to each other, the tree also is formed with strands of garland and preferably ornaments secured thereto.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1991Date of Patent: February 4, 1992Inventors: Arlie Johnson, Barbara E. Patent number: 4937107Abstract: A decorative wall hanging includes a molded, substantially rigid shell formed of plastic material, the shell being shaped to provide a simulated Christmas tree portion with an ornament on the top and a base on the lower end. The shell provides a forward face covered by a simulated pine garland to simulate a Christmas tree appearance. The shell provides a plurality of randomly located openings surrounded by generally cylindrical bores. A string of electric lights is mounted on the shell with sockets supported and adhesively secured in the bores. The bulbs project from the sockets forwardly of the bores and are at least partially covered by the garland so that the light from the bulbs is diffused. The ornaments can be tested for compact shipment and storage. For larger wall ornaments, the shell can be assembled in more than one piece.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Inventor: Kurt E. Mirisch, Sr.
