The main support frame is connected to at least one of the first and second arm portions to fixedly connect the main support frame to the sofa frame. The bed frame includes a first section and a second section pivotally connected to the first section via a hinge. The sleeper sofa further includes a guide plate defining an arcuate guide slot, which communicates with a guide post connected to the second section of the bed frame. The guide post travels in the guide slot to lower and raise the second section of the bed frame as the bed frame moves between the retracted and extended positions.

The conversion from sofa to bed, and back to sofa, is done without removing any cushions and without moving the sofa away from anything behind it.

Abstract: A convertible sofa-bed which is easy to convert between a sofa configuration and a bed configuration is provided. From a sofa configuration, a buttock-foot member may be pulled outward. Simultaneously, a head rest member and back rest member which are initially at a generally vertical position are traversed to a generally horizontal position. When the buttock-foot member is fully traversed outward (i.e., extended position), the head rest member, back rest member and the buttock-foot member are generally substantially co-planar and generally horizontal. This provides a firm bed surface upon which a person may comfortably sleep. From the bed configuration, head rest member and the back rest member may be buckled to allow the buttock-foot member to be pushed inward. The buttock-foot member is then pushed fully inward (i.e., retracted position) until the head rest member and the back rest member are in the generally vertical position.

Abstract: Improved methods and apparatuses relating to installation of a sleeper mechanism into a frame of a sofa sleeper are disclosed. In one embodiment, initially the frame is aligned such that an open bottom portion of the frame is upright and facing outwardly. The sleeper mechanism is then advanced towards the open bottom portion and hook apertures on the brackets are engaged with upper fasteners on the frame. The sleeper mechanism is then swung inwardly towards the top portion of the frame until notches on the bracket are passed lower fasteners on the frame and then swung back towards the open bottom portion to engage the notches with the lower fasteners.

Abstract: A frame member supports a seat and a back and is movable between a horizontal position for supporting a user thereon and a vertical position for stowing the frame against the wall. Linkage secures the frame member to a wall mounting apparatus. The linkage includes oppositely disposed pairs of links that pivot the frame member relative to the wall to define a first distance between the wall and the frame member when the frame is in the vertical position and a second lesser distance between the wall and the frame member when the frame is in the horizontal position thus requiring less space between the frame and the wall. Abstract: A support deck for a sofa bed having a plurality of support members is interconnected at joints such that when a force is applied to one side of the deck the deck will yield but when a force is applied to the opposite side, the deck will be relatively resilient. The support members consist of molded plastic links which are serially and pivotally interconnected to form the deck from a number of generally parallel longitudinal columns of links. Each link includes a planar upper surface for supporting the mattress and a reinforcing rib on the lower surface for added strength. Pivot pins are used to interconnect the links and a stop is provided on each end of the link to restrict the upward flexing or movement of the joined links. The links are economically and easily manufactured thereby providing a commercially competitive sofa bed without the detrimental aspects associated with prior sofa bed structures.

Disposed above the first mattress is a second mattress that has an air bladder construction. The air bladder of the second mattress has a valve, which is located adjacent the head end of the mattress. The valve is adapted to selectively allow air into and out of the air bladder. The mattress assembly thus provides the combination of an innerspring mattress with an air mattress. Abstract: A sofa-bed has: a frame with opposing arms; a seat; a subseat hinged to the seat; a connecting rod that pivotally interconnects the subseat and the backrest; pairs of center legs and end legs pivotally attached to, respectively, the subseat and seat; and mechanisms for folding and unfolding the center and end legs. The sofa-bed is movable between a folded position and an unfolded position. The mechanisms for the center legs and the end legs are configured to move the legs from a generally horizontal folded position between the seat and subseat when the sofa-bed is in the folded position to a generally upright position beneath, respectively, the subseat and seat when the bed is in the unfolded position.

Abstract: Sofa bed comprising innovating mechanisms for position adjustment and quick assembly. It comprises padding elements supported by two hinged frames and is characterised by a mechanism which allows the wheels of the front legs to touch the floor in both position said “bed” and “sofa. Moreover, said sofa bed comprises a mechanism which locks the rotation of the seat frame respect to the back frame and to obtain a lever which makes easier to convert the bed into a sofa. Finally, according to a subsequent aim, the assembly of a spacing bar to the right and left sides is less difficult; this spacing bar is needed to provide a sufficiently rigid base for the bed.

Abstract: An arrangement for supporting, inclining, and reclining a rear section of a folding bed frame structure of a sofa bed includes a rear bed section; an intermediate bed section pivotally connected to the rear bed section; a slide link extending between and pivotally connected at opposite ends thereof to the rear bed section and to the intermediate bed section; a ratchet element pivotally connected to the slide link and including a notch for engaging the intermediate bed section and supporting the rear bed section when inclined at a first inclination relative to the intermediate bed section; and a cam surface located on the ratchet element that causes the ratchet element to automatically disengage from the intermediate bed member for reclining of the rear bed section relative to the intermediate bed section when the rear bed section is inclined at a second inclination greater than the first inclination.

Abstract: A folding bed frame structure comprises spaced apart folding side frame assemblies connected with transversely extending cross members by a combination of mating frictionally interfitting "swaged" and tongue-and-slot connections which do not require or utilize fasteners, thereby permitting the structure to be shipped and stored in disassembled condition. Side frame elements of the bed frame structure have an angled base portion with an arcuate portion extending therefrom to simulate the appearance of tubular elements.

Abstract: A sofa sleeper foldable sofa bed assembly having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate and foot frame sections each including a pair of opposed side rails. The frame sections are extendable to form a bed and foldable to form a sofa seat. The frame is supported laterally by at least one generally U-shaped cross brace which is biased in an upwardly raised position by at least one resilient member.
