Hinge Patents (Class 5/57.1)
  • Patent number: 11877662
Abstract: An adjustable bed base may be folded in half for shipping without removing the leg assemblies. The leg assemblies are adjustable in length and may be secured in a raised position to facilitate folding the adjustable bed base. To change the length of the leg assembly, a hollow leg is moved inside a hollow receiver and fixed in place by a first push pin assembly. A second push pin assembly inside the hollow receiver fixes the leg assembly in a lowered position and a raised position for storage or shipment. Each hollow receiver is pivotally secured to a mounting bracket welded to a foldable frame of the adjustable bed base.

  • Patent number: 11851931
Abstract: A kitchen appliance is described. The kitchen appliance has a chamber delimited by a wall arrangement and a lid for sealing the chamber. The lid is attached to the wall arrangement through a hinge mechanism having an arm and a further arm. The arm has a first terminal portion attached to the wall arrangement through a first pivot proximal to a first end portion of the lid and an opposing second terminal portion attached to an intermediate portion of the lid through a second pivot. The further arm has a first further terminal portion attached to an intermediate portion of the arm in between the first terminal portion and the second terminal portion through a third pivot and a second further terminal portion terminating in a sliding arrangement on the lid in between the second pivot and the first end portion of the lid.

Abstract: A sofa hinge that provides easy conversion of a sofa convertible from one position to another while providing added safety by substantially reducing the risk of an injury to the operator's fingers. The sofa hinge includes a first and a second bracket rotatably connected to the sofa hinge at a bolt. The second bracket includes a semi-circular portion that covers a portion of the lever during the various positions of the sofa. The sofa hinge further includes a cover plate rotatably connected to the sofa hinge at the bolt. The cover plate includes a semi-circular portion and is adjacent to the semi-circular portion of the second bracket. The cover plate covers at least a portion of the semi-circular portion of the second bracket. By having the cover plate conceal the gear mechanism of the sofa hinge, the risk of injury to the operator's fingers is substantially reduced.

Abstract: A hinge assembly includes a linkage base adapted to be secured to a portion of a furniture sidewall, an elongate first linkage arm, and an elongate second linkage arm. The hinge assembly may also include an insert member assembly that includes an elongate first insert member, an elongate second insert member, a pivot assembly to pivotably couple the first insert member to the second insert member, and an insert linkage arm that is coupled to the first insert member. The first linkage arm and the second linkage arm are each pivotally coupled to the linkage base and the insert linkage arm. The first insert member may be releasably coupled to a first rear receiving member secured to a first furniture portion and the second insert member may be releasably coupled to a first front receiving member secured to a second furniture portion.

  • Patent number: 8464370
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a furniture item having user-support frames that are convertible between a seat configuration and a bed configuration. In one embodiment, user-support frames include a head-support frame anchored by a link assembly to a furniture-item base and a back-support frame pivotably coupled to the head-support frame. The link assembly facilitates both pivoting and lateral shifting of the head-support frame relative to the furniture-item base. In the bed configuration, a cam and cam follower are disposed under the user-support frames, such that when the user-support frames laterally shift, the cam contacts the cam follower, thereby upwardly moving a junction at which user-support frames are hinged to one another.

  • Publication number: 20080148478
Abstract: Sofabed with innovative position adjustment mechanism and a fast assembly process, comprising padding elements, a base structure (1) a plurality of mutually hinged frames (2) supported by said base structure and supporting said padding elements, and a kinematic mechanism (3) to change the frames positions; moreover, the base structure comprises two identical elements, named “small legs” (4), a spacer (5), and is characterised by a “hinge” plate (6) consisting of two flat surfaces, fixed on the small leg (4), which consists of two flat surfaces with an almost rectangular hole (7); said hole is tapered on one side (8) to lodge the spacer (5). This assembly procedure removes the clearance in the coupling between the hinge (6) and the spacer (5) and obtains a perfect perpendicularity between the spacer and the “small leg” (4). According to a subsequent aim the base structure assembly is realised by only two bolts.

  • Patent number: 6738997
Abstract: Innovative mechanism for a divan bed enabling the adjustment in three positions, said “divan”, “relax” and “bed”, comprising padding elements supported by two frames; said frames can reciprocally move by means of two angle-bars, concurrent in a point; one of said angle-bars supports the frame forming the seat of the divan bed and the second one supports the frame forming the back of the divan bed; moreover comprising an articulated quadrilateral which supports said second angle-bar. The mechanism is characterised in that the angle-bars constitute a release mechanism which enables the three positions, stable respect to the divan bed base, while the quadrilater stiffly moves the angle-bars in other three positions. Therefore, the main feature of the mechanism is the univocal positioning between the angle-bars and the quadrilateral elements, without any other additional element as, for example, stop elements like ratchet or pawl.

  • Publication number: 20030061655
Abstract: A hinge assembly is mounted on a rail supported above a floor by two legs to support one end of a sofa/bed. A like hinge assembly is mounted the same way at the other end of the sofa/bed. The hinge assemblies include side rails supporting front and rear sofa frame members. Each hinge assembly combines front and rear pivot arms supporting a seat bracket, a backrest bracket and an intermediate hinge plate. A latch arm is pivoted to the seat bracket and received through a loop fastened on the intermediate hinge plate and on which a stop is provided. The latch arm is spring biased against the stop and includes a notch receivable in the stop to latch the arm. A latch dog is provided in the arm and which can be toggled between a position enabling latching of the arm against the stop, and a position enabling release of the arm from the stop.
